Fell into the trap just like practically everyone else.
Missed this until just now.
Whether W and Y are vowels everywhere else is a whole 'nother debate, and if I had the energy to argue it, I’d start a separate thread.
But in our micro-universe, what’s the practical importance of the distinction? For me, at least, the primary importance is if I’ve got a one-letter space between two consonants that I need to fill, a vowel is what I’m looking for.
- It won’t be W.
- It can be a Y, but very very rarely.
The last time I added up the numbers was after the first 1365 Wordles. At that point, a Y had appeared 218 times. 183 of those times, it was the last letter of the word, leaving 35 times for it to be between two consonants like in ABYSS, for instance.
So for the practical purpose of playing Wordle, it’s a beast of its own. It’s a letter that with rare exceptions is the last letter of a word. Consonant? Vowel? Who cares. There is no other letter that behaves anything like this one on this playing field.

DOWEL → Placed E is not a bad start. Try an A with three WoFcons
TASER → No help there. N left of the WoFcons. Could be a second E - I’ll try along with a U, and another consonant that goes with it
QUEEN → Now I am feeling very irked. No WoFcons and an I? It’s like Wordle has created the ideal word to vex me here. I do see a good next word now, though
CHIEF → Getting the C is nice, and the I was expected. I was going round and round before I saw the one word left

Scoredle’s guesses were remarkably like mine, guess for guess, while also being different words - it also finishes in five. Seeing it making a parallel struggle at least made me feel better about my bogey.

“Uh-oh, looks like a trap,” thought I.
Then I proceeded to spend 15 minutes trying to find any word to fit. Well, not really. I did find JIVEY, WIFEY, and VIBEY, and hated them all.
It wasn’t until I went through the keyboard methodically trying every possible letter combination that I finally got it. Then I kicked myself for not seeing the BI- prefix sooner.

YES! 
Today’s puzzle took me five guesses because I didn’t think the solution bicep would be in the word list. That word has no right to exist in my humble opinion, common usage be damned. The singular is biceps and the plural is bicepses or arguably bicipites.
And get off my damn lawn.
