PLEAD → OK, not bad. If I move them over one, what can I get? LENTS? Maybe I need another vowel. It was late, so I tried
LEFTY → which was of very little help. So then I added an I and tried
RILES → Which at least placed both letters. With N still unused, I wanted to go for
NOVEL → and for some reason I felt like I made a guess on this next one recently, but hey it’s gotta be the answer

A very lucky guess on four pulls me out of a potential tough position. Scoredle finishes with a bogey, taking a side trip to place one of the starting letters, then after the third guess they still have eight valid possibles, leading to a 50-50 for bogey (which it nails).

After 2, all the possibilities that didn’t begin with RE- had already been used. REBUT had been used too, and that left REMIT as the only word where the RE- wasn’t a prefix. Not that that would exclude a word from being a solution, but those that have already been used, like RETRY and REUSE, are in common use, and the only one like that that would have worked here was REFIT, but I liked REMIT better, and if it was REFIT, I’d still get a 4.
This was my 1400th Wordle. My first was #202, SLUMP (got a 6, I used ADIEU as my starting word), and the last game I missed was #390, LIVER.
