Even though I got no consonants at the start, a leading A and an O not in the middle narrowed things down considerably.
There were a lot of different paths to ALLOT, and I probably couldn’t have scored worse than a bogie if I’d tried.

JUMBO → Near-whiff. Got a couple good first words second here; perhaps STONE or STOLE or maybe
STORE → I wonder if that choice will cost me? I could go TONAL here to KO the last WoFcon, but I think I’ll try to place that T first
TOTAL → And I don’t place the T… but at least it’s narrowed down. With O in fourth, T must go at end, A first or second, L in third looks like
ALLOT
A pretty quick puzzle today. I wonder how long it’s been since I haven’t tried an N? It helped that I had such a WoFcon-less start, and doubled up to place the T. Scoredle loved my third guess (1/109) and the final was a tap-in. On its own, Scoredle hits a trap on the final letter with its fourth guess, and has bad luck with the next guess as well, resulting in a tap-in double bogey. I can sympathize.
Catching up again:

GUMBO had been used already (just a few weeks ago!). Next week this would be a coin toss. Those of us who use a used-words list will see our scores increase somewhat.
I’m surprised it took this long for the FTFNYT to start re-using solutions. It’s about time, and then some. My main disappointment is that the odds are much longer against my starting word being a solution anytime soon.

Another one where re-using solutions would make a difference. I came up with nine plausible solutions, but five had already been used, and my guess at 2 guaranteed a 3 if it turned out not to be the solution itself.
It’s gonna be a different world for some of us on Monday. But really it should never have gotten to the point where the used words list could play this big a role.

so I just continued with Spiny again.
Wow.

ALLOT → Whiff. But I know the perfect next word… wonder how Scoredle will like it?
REINS → Heck with Scoredle’s opinon, I like it! I think a Y ending is likely, and if that S first, I’m seeing
SPINY
SHINY and three words ending in G were also possible, so I had a whole lotta luck here, but I was safe from a loss. Scoredle tries an anagram of my second guess (said guess was 75/2803, so 96th percentile) but then has more luck than me, hitting the birdie out of six valid and 13 total possibles.
