SCENE → One and only one E, and a bunch of WoFcons to sort through. This a job for
LEARN → Looks like a ?E?AN trap. My first cut at it is
PECAN → and then I decided to sleep on it. Which in this case was not a good idea, because I woke up once last night with an idea in my head for a word, which I tried before I looked at it for real
RERAN → I had already tried the R, I didn’t need to try two of 'em! So, after some bad play, I looked harder and got some good luck
VEGAN
So that was humiliating and gratifying in equal measure, but at least I didn’t lose. Scordle finishes with a solid par, missing the birdie by one letter (and 5 places out of 28 possibles in its list at that point).

It was looking rather trappish, but I realized that after two, there were only four possible words left (PECAN, SEDAN, VEGAN, BEGAN). Two of them shared a letter, so the worst I could possibly do was a bogey.
I could have guaranteed a par with a good sleuth word, or take the 25% shot at a birdie (and 25% chance of bogey). I went for it and landed with a par after all.

Wordlebot says there were only four words possible after my first guess: surge, spree, serve, and scree. After my second guess, it says there was only one possible answer. When I guessed serve it said that wasn’t possible based on my previous guesses. Maybe I haven’t had enough coffee yet this morning but I’m not seeing how serve would have been eliminated by my first two guesses?

After 2, could’ve also been SPREE or (already used) SERVE. Kinda disappointed that it wasn’t SERGE, because Groucho to Margaret Dumont: “Your eyes, your eyes, they shine like the pants of a blue serge suit. That’s not a reflection on you, it’s on the pants.” From The Cocoanuts, IIRC.
My streak is now at 10000000000. In binary, that is. 1024 in nonbinary. (pronouns they/them) ![]()

I made a similar error, considering words that had been eliminated, but got lucky that it didn’t add to my time, because i happened to pick a different possible word that narrowed it to one.

VEGAN → Hey, a G. Nice to have… and do I have a second E?
GREEK → No, but I did pick up an R. (EGRET might have been a better word, with an additional WoFcon, I thought to my… regret.) E is more frequent at the end than the beginning, if there’s an -RGE ending but not -[AE]RGE,it’s mostly U for that vowel, so
SURGE
Kinda nice - and lucky - birdie. Last guess was out of six valid possibles, evenly split between the three remaining vowels, so while I might have gone the distance, it would have taken a horrid misplay to lose. Scordle misses a 1-in-3 for birdie, but assures the par with its choice.
