Monday morning, I opened Wordle, and instead of the usual “Go ahead, add another day to your X day streak,” it said, “Get six chances to guess a five-letter word,” which is the “Oh-shit-I-forgot-to-play-yesterday” phrase.
So I told my phone I was in Samoa and was able to play Sunday’s game. Then, when I switched back to my actual time zone, I was greeted with “Go ahead, add another day to your 1-day streak.
I don’t have any insight into the programming behind this. It is what it is.

After my first two guesses, i thought there were three possible words: cloud, clock, and clomp. None of those words would help me guess between the others, and i debated going for the certain 4 by playing a word with unique letters from at least two of them. Maybe puked. But wordlebot scores me higher if i take a stab at a possible word, and the expected value of the number of guesses is the same either way.
Anyway, i scored par.

FLOUT → So is a second O more likely than an I? Or is it neither? I coult try a -CK ending but I’d like to cover the double-O possibility
GLOOM → Darn, did I miss the call on that one. OK, what comes before -LOCK?

BLOCK (and the bogus PLOCK) were still out there, so I could have gone down with some bad luck. Could have avoided it if I had used the first letter of the valid one as the first letter on the previous guess. Still OK with the bogey. Scoredle liked my followup so much it made the same one, and thanks to it spotting that the solution’s first letter is better to guess with the third than the 8/40-but-off-by-only-one-letter guess that I made, it fills the trap but still ends up with a bogey of it’s own, leaving the key ending for the fifth guess.

Yeah, AFAICT once you open Wordle, it’s too late to change the time zone. The one time I did it, I remembered I’d missed playing the previous day before opening Wordle, and was able to change the time zone first.
