Just chiming in to say that I’m opposed to such a policy. If a word is a legitimate guess, then barring obvious disqualifying factors then it should be eligible as an answer.
Of course CLITS is disqualified on account of being a plural.
…which suggests that Scordle is also the epitome of mediocre at this game…
