I played this one so badly! ARSON couldnt have been correct as the R was already invorrect from CRASH. then GASSY was wrong because the 4th letter S was also incorrect from CRASH. Jeez.

CHILI → Carryover cyclops. L is out, so I have four choose three WoFcons, and… A or E? I saw TINES later, so I went with my first impulse
TRAIN → Which was good. Separate the vowels, only S is left of the WoFcons - why not try two of them?

A one-in-11 valids (out of 61 total) shot at birdie, validated by Scoredle’s making it the top guess for my third try (my followup was not in the top 120). I was thinking the same word with an E as the end letter, even though that’s a proper noun - but it led me in the right direction and I had already eliminated the other trap letters. Scoredle’s followup is even better - it leaves only 3 valids (out of 61 total) and sure enough the solution is again at the top - so Scoredle also birdies.

BASIS → Whiff. and a wasted S. Should have gone with TONER, but what I saw first was
TRONE → Here I dug in for a while trying to find a word with L and either U or Y, got nowhere, then eventually reset and tried to fnd any word that used the letters I had
MONTH → So with the two placed letters, N had to go in front and T in the middle, which made it easy to see

My alternate followup guess would have been better, per Scoredle (36/2563 vs. not in the 120) but it recommended my third guess (1/20) and the final was a tap-in. Scoredle takes a different follow-up, but its third guess differs by mine in only one letter, and while the par putt is 1/5, the other four possibles are thoroughly bogus.
