A serendipitous dumb mistake at three gave me the P that led to a near-tap-in par. SCAPE was possible but didn’t seem likely.
QUELL → Slow start, wasted L, try A and three WoFcons, scramble to give us
TARSE → Perhaps STARE would have been better. Thought about how to try a terminal Y, got sufficiently obsesses by it that I ignored the last missing WoFcon
SEAMY → Next, tried N in the middle for some possibles but saw nothing until I put it at the end
SEDAN → OK, so that’s where the A goes. It’s (high) time to start looking for words straight out, and looking at the list of remaining letters I see one really good candidate

After my carryover, I had over 3600 words remaining, which is huge. Third guess was 67/91, not great on my part, but it left only two valid words remaining, which I naturally got in the wrong order. Scoredle’s second guess cuts it down to 52 possibles, five valid, and the top one was the answer - so Scoredle with a very nice par, and the guess would have differentiated the other four valid possibles so that a par was the worst-case scenario. Nice going, algorithm!
My first guess was a blank; my second was four yellows. I was able to unscramble the letters to get it in three.
