"Wordle," a strangely compelling word game (Part 3)

CURRY → Well, that’s not a bad start - not even a wasted R! So I’ll move R to the front and try a bogus word with an E and two more WoFcons
RUNES → Got the E, so that’s good. This is shaping up like a ‘do-ER’ word, isn’t it - but at least I have the U as a vowel, which is a bit rarer. I can try another WoFcon with
TUBER → No help there. Although I’m seeing one with an A via
AUGER → Two guesses left. A second E? Oh, and a Q…

When I find the U placed, I really should jump right on the previous letter and see if I can make a word with it. It’s not like the other guesses after two were bad, mind you, just that I need to take that particular two-letter constuct into account. My followup and thereafter were 2/91, 4/14, 3/9 and 1/6, so I didn’t go on too many wild-goose chases. Scoredle’s three intermediate guesses were each one letter off of mine, so it’s reasonable we both end with a bogey.

I stubbornly stayed in self-imposed hard mode, and systematically whittled the options down.
Scordle rated my picks well (LATER - 2 of 1,089; MISER - 11 of 110; FEVER - 1 of 38; CHEER - 1 of 6; QUEER - 1 of 2, the other bogus), but I sweated it out to the limit nonetheless.

Didn’t post yesterday - an unremarkable par on CURRY.

QUEER → Wasted E, unplaced U, what can I do to build on this? A would be nice, but I started doing bogus words and ended up with
STOUN → So, two more letters unplaced. I kinda like a -UNT ending so I’ll try
BLUNT → Running out of places to put the U. If I start with UN-, and add some vowels, I can try

The -AUNT trap might have claimed my scalp today if one if its words had been the solution. As it was, the two semibogus words left after my last guess could have extended me to the limit. Scoredle wastes a letter with its followup but still finishes in four; that followup avoids the trap I only saw later - and then the third guess leaves a tap-in par.
