POLYP → So I know where the L goes, and the Y pretty much has to be at the end, so I looked for words with nonidentical letters in 3&4, found none and decided to try

27/786 followup, then 19/39 third guess, so seemingly getting worse. Lot of bogus words in the endgame, but one valid one that I missed, so a bit lucky. Scoredle hits a 1-in-4 valid for birdie.

Scoredle claims six possibles after my third guess; I claim five of them are bogus. That first guess second rated 24/847, the third guess was 2/14 as you might expect. Scoredle plays to place the first word letter; when it finds it appears twice, it goes straight to the solution on a 1-in-2 shot for birdie.

I was wrong; missed the V - but it didn’t hurt me this time, despite the double-bogey. Scoredle finishes with a par by finding the 4th letter to defuse the trap with its third guess, then it has but one valid word left.

Followup 23/106, third guess 3/(3 or 4) valids, depending on one of the possibles Scoredle lists. So a bogey was in the offing, but I got lucky. The algorithm gets very unlucky on the exact same trap, finishing with a bogey.
