PRIVY → Whiff, to set up the ultimate good first word second
SLATE → N, O, and U would be good letters to try but, not finding a good with with both O & U, I resolved to try just one of the vowels and if it didn’t hit, going to the other one would be easy
CLONK → I really should have tried the other one first, though

The followup was, oddly, not in the top 120 of possibles despite it being Scoredle’s starting word, but the third guess 5/31 leaving of course a gimme par putt. Scoredle does a very, uh, sane thing - after its followup, it jumps into the ?OUND trap with an 80% chance of success; when that doesn’t come through, it makes one more guess that ends in a tap-in bogey.
