SWATH → That’s a nice start. Need to catch up on vowels.
STONE → Perhaps an I, next?
STEIN → Aw, darnit, I already knew there wasn’t an N. I’m thinking of consonant pairs to go on the end, and not coming up with much. Double E? Would be STEER, STEEP, STEED, don’t think there’s much else… and I think we did STEED recently, so
STEER → Nope, but right on the Es.
STEEP
I might have made a six if I hadn’t remembered a previous solution. Scoredle goes a slightly different route with its second guess, which leaves it with a 4-trap rather than my 3-trap after the third - so we both end up with a bogey.

STEEP → Slow start. Good first word second time…
LOANS → Added an O… and a terminal S. Curious, since plurals and second person conjugations are excluded from answers. At least the N gives me something to go with. Try an I?
NOIRS → So if the other letter is a U - ah!
BONUS
BORAS is Scoredle’s second guess, which gives it a birdie. I’m happy with my par, though if I had seen allt the remaining possibles after my second guess I would have also gone straight to the answer.
@psychobunny actually, I had a typo in my post. My second guess was STOLE rather than STONE, so both my third guess of STEIN was OK and the ending trap was a 3-trap rather than a 4. Thanks for pointing that out…

GOODY
I almost pulled a birdie out of my butt here. After deciding to try the double O and terminal Y, I considered GOODY at three, but didn’t much like it. Had I consulted the used words list I probably would have gone with it anyway. But I’m not upset to save the par after that start.
