After being happy about placing two vowels, I realized I’d opened a trap. Turned out not to be much of one, though.

AWARD → Third word with a D in a row. I see a word that can KO a lot of vowels, so
DEITY → Got one, unplaced. Let’s try an O and some WoFcons. Could be NODES, or
OLDEN → Good luck with the L. What’s left? Swap L & O, E at the end, we get
LODGE
Scoredle finishes in 3 - it seems to have an affinity for the solution word. I’m cool with the par. Early D helps again!

LODGE → Whiff. Time for a good first guess second…
STAIR → Another whiff. OK… N is still out there, need to try it, and U and Y both, because I’m running out of time.
PUNKY → Oh, boy. Need to find three consonants in three remaining guesses.
HUBBY → Make that two remaining guesses. And there’s one possibility that haunts me right now, so I’d better try it
MUMMY → Nope, that wasn’t it. What’s left? I’m assuming single-lettter & double-letter. Out of CFJQVWXZ, I think JQVWX are right out, leaving me with CFZ, and I don’t see how to fit the C so let’s try
FUZZY
My fifth guess was better than I thought - per Scoredle, it KOed four of my remaining six possibles, including two nonbogus ones. Scoredle also goes the distance, though through a different path.

BUGGY had already been used.
Given that I had jack shit after 2, I’m happy with a 4.
Looking at Scoredle, maybe 30 of its 99 possibilities after 2 might could possibly be on the solutions list (IMHO, since I’ve never looked at it and don’t intend to). All but two of them end in Y, the exceptions being VIVID (used) and KUDZU (not).

After falling into the trap on three I counted twenty possibilities. I don’t use the previous words so I went with the L and V which were used most in the more common words. After the hit on V I was left with ROVER, MOVER, HOVER, and DOVER (least likely). I needed to check the R in first so I went with a sleuth word to eliminate three of the four possibilities and I managed to barely pull it out.
