Drunkards walk getting it but happy with four
ANGLE → That’s not a a bad start. Try two of the three remaining WoFcons, and I’d like to try an O, but I can’t see a word with one, so another good consonant is my best bet
SMELT → Is this a trap? Looks like all consonants from here on out. Definitely no R, but I could double up on the L, with W or
SPELL → So with no second L, I could have an H between S and E, ergo

Scoredle has an interesting path - it doubles up on two letters for its second guess, then reverses my second and third guesses as its third and fourth, ending up with a bogey. (From its own start of course, it kicks butt with a birdie.) There was a mini-trap in my sequence after my second guess, but it would have ended in a bogey at worst.

A little more thought might have earned me a birdie, or maybe not. But any time I can save par after whiffing on the opener is a win.

I had intended to go with a possible solution at 2, but none of them did a good job of narrowing things down if that guess was a miss. So at 2, I wound up using a past solution as a sleuth word. Did the job.

SHELF → That’s not a bad start. I’ll try and add an A and two WoFcons for the follow-up
LEARN → Whiff. Perhaps an O, and the T, and what does that get me?
OWLET → Interesting. Is the E at the end?
WHOLE → No it’s not, and I already knew the L wasn’t fourth either! Ugh. At least I eliminated the H, small comfort. Well from here, it pretty much has to be

MELEE is Scoredle’s second guess, going hard to place the E. This gives it a par, which I might have had if I had just taken another look before entering my eventual fourth guess. In fact, Scoredle says the only valid word left for my fourth guess was the answer, but I biffed it for the bogey. Rats. On the plus side, all yellows before the solution!
