Wordplay and word puzzles in different scripts

Given differences between same-language (US and UK) crossword puzzles, what greater variations of word games are available in eg Hebrew script and others farther flung?

I moved this from Factual Questions to The Game Room as it is about Word Games. Games and Sports generally go here.

I assume crossword puzzles don’t exist in Chinese/Japanese, for one.

They do in Chinese, sort of.

Instead of each square being filled in by a letter, they are filled in by a character (which is the equivalent of either a word or part of a compound word).

The answers are short sentences or phrases (quotations from “greats” or verses of poetry are popular)

My wife used to do them, but hasn’t for 20+ years.

Hebrew (or similar) script is not necessarily going to give you “greater variations”; it is still an alphabet.

Interesting! Sounds more like Wheel of Fortune than a crossword, though…
