Well, I don’t suppose any of you were in elementary school 4 years ago, but I remember when people used to say “Not!” and “Sike” a lot. A typical demonstration would go something like this: “Hey look, money! Not!!!”

Purely a regionalism, but a nice one: “Please?”

Found only mostly around Cincinnati, I’ve found, meaning “Huh? Didn’t catch that? Duh, whuuut? Sorry, I didn’t understand” or variations thereof.

Said to be grounded in the German usage of “bitte”, or please.

A minor grace note that has passed, from my life at least, but worth noting.

Along with real Cinti. chili (a four way! my life for a four way!), it’s one of things I miss most. It’s flexible, courteous and damned useful. If other people would just get with the program.
