Working on a Dream - New Springsteen

It really pains me to say this because I’m a huge fan, but this CD is awful. There is not a single song that hooked me in. Not one. The closest was probably The Last Carnival, but that was more because I knew it was a tribute to Danny Federici than because it was actually good. The whole album is shallow and like a watered-down drink. Queen of the Supermarket may be the worst song I’ve seen him release. The whole thing feels like he was rushing to fulfill an obligation or something. There’s no heart or guts. Ugh.

Really? I think it rocks. I really like Good Eye, but I wish it were three verses longer. And I want to cover it, doing it softly, then hard. Outlaw Pete is weird but I like it, too. The more I listen, my favourites will likely change. But I like it.

I just downloaded three of the songs on I-Tunes yesterday:

  1. Outlaw Pete
  2. My Lucky Day
  3. Surprise, Surprise
