Workplace injuries and worker's comp

Someone I know had a workplace injury the other day, but didn’t report the incident to his employer. I thought you were required to do so, for worker’s comp and OSHA purposes. Can he get into trouble for not doing so? This was in Connecticut if it makes a difference.

If he was the cause of the workplace injury, due either to negligence or violation, then I could well see how he would not want to report it.

My husband had an on the job injury, tore a rotator cuff, while taking a water rescue swim test. The course instructor was told. Hubby, being the brave firefighter he is, ignored the injury for several months. His boss knew about the injury.
When he reinjured it , again at work, he had no choice but to have it fixed. He claimed, and recieved L & I benifits.
When he returned to work, he was called in the office and given a Corrective Action Memo for not reporting it to L & I with the first injury.
So, at least in our case, yes, you can get in trouble.
