Not sure this is a plot twist but any time a group or two people have been together for the whole movie and then get separated or one chooses to go a different way, it’s pretty sure thing that one of them is going to come back at the end to save the other a la Han Solo.
Most recent example would be Breaking Bad. Also Toy Story 3. And now that I see it I wish I didn’t!
Shutter Island creeped me out. Or should I say Leonardo creeped me out. Sometimes his acting is so good it’s bad. I knew something was up.
Granted, somebody has always done it in a whodunit, so it’s not really a “twist”, but I did correctly guess that the butler did it in one particular Agatha Christie novel. He turned out not to be what he appeared to be, and I have wrongly suspected a few butlers as well, but nonetheless, score one for me.
To be fair, that’s a pretty common motivation for guys too. That was a substantial portion of Luke Skywalker’s motivation for two thirds of the original trilogy, recall.
Her dad was General Zod?! That’s a twist I wouldn’t expect!
But didn’t she just have time to save either her boyfriend or her father, and picked the guy (the actor who played Dougie Howser)? I just remember someone shouting
I was trapped on a transpacific flight and The Others was playing. About 20 minutes in I thought if this ends the way I think it does I am going to be so pissed.
