World Beard Day 2013

Tomorrow is World Beard Day 2013.

I know GD is supposed to be the place for witnessing, but I call upon the Bearded Doper community to come forth in this thread and testify as to the glory that is growing, maintaining and proudly living the Lifestyle of the Beard - so that those who are deaf might hear and that those who are Beardless, may sprout.

I personally will spend WBD proudly fluffing and stroking my Beard, enjoying the company of my fellow Bearded kin and listening to a lot of ZZ Top. I will, however, take time for a few moments in contemplation of the almost inconceivable tragedy of those who, through accident of genetic lottery, nonage or cultural tyranny, are denied the most basic of human rights - the right to grow, wear and proudly display a magnificent Beard. Like mine.

Beards are awesome. That is all.

I too am a grower, stroking my 6.5 inch Goatee right now and on my way to 10"(255mm for the Metris folks)

Cheers

Capt

From the bottom of my nose to the middle of my chest I wish you all a happy World Beard Day.

Ahh, to the marker that here, at least, man and beast are one! Cheers!

But let us be fair to our beardless brothers. I have no idea how they contemplate evil schemes (or non-evil schemes, or anything else, really), but there is something to be said for being able to eat cotton candy without immediately having to take a shower.

Yes, I too have a beard. Silver, and trimmed to a natty, nay, dapper, debonaire and dashing adjunct to my manly visage.

Keeps me warm in winter, shades my face in summer, and is always available for petting. Far superior to a pet in that it doesn’t need walking, feeding, or cleaning up poop.

(I hate shaving)

((My wife thinks I look better with a beard))

I haven’t shaved in nearly 49 years. yaay!

BTW, the province of Quebec is now contemplating banning beards for all public employees (this includes teachers, university professors, provincial day care workers, etc.) It started when they proposed banning any religious display (except, of course, crosses) and when it was pointed out that this would largely impact women, what about beards, they didn’t answer. Yet.
