Less than 2 minutes left. Poland has to give its all to scratch at least 1 point here. Poland is attacking hard, and their fans seem re-energized after the previous goal (or, at least, that is how it sounds on Dutch tv!)

But, really, with such a miserable defense, Poland is lucky not to have ended worse than Brazil in its semifinal in 2014 …

Russia - Egypt about to begin, and Mohammed Salah is going to play. Hope he is really fully recovered from his injury, and that they are not making him play out of “desperation” in search of points for his team.

I think the Polish goalkeeper was trying to “Neuer” the ball by coming so far out of his place. Unfortunately, Neuer-ing is highly risky and it backfires if not done properly.
Barring a furious comeback, Russia is advancing. Sigh.

The first, towards the end of the 1st half, was an own goal by Egypt. The second has been a beautiful cross by Cheryshev (the guy plays in Spain ^.^). The third, a few minutes after the second, came on the counter-attack, courtesy of Dzuba, and I think that Egypt is basically done for at this point.
How many own goals have there been in this World Cup so far? Quite a few (two of them today…), I think there have been… five so far? Have there ever been that many own goals in a championship like this before?
Thats 1990’s England Test team level of selection logic. We have a system? Come on, guy has scored 20 plus goals in 2 of the last 3 seasons, you bloody well play him. You fit him in. Man with his speed will terrify CB’s, imagine Vardy playing yesterday, the Tunisians would have had to mark him all night, leaving Kane alone, unlike the actual game where Kane basically wore Ben Youssaf all match long and was lucky to get both goals.

Egypt is pressing with energy, but unfortunately they seem chaotic and disorganized. Perhaps they are feeling prey to panic.
Mo Salah is really good, but I am afraid that the rest of his teammates are not at his height, and thus bereft of support he cannot shine.
Although! Egypt is given a penalty after Salah is fouled in the penalty area; Salah takes it and he scores! Russia 3-Egypt 1.
They were in a relatively “easy” group, with perennial whipping boys Saudi Arabia and relatively untested Egypt.
