I think it gives a boost but only so far.
South Korea: cheating and what about Japan?
2014 Brazil destroyed at home
2016 France looses to Portugual
2018 Russia playing well the last two matches but anything still possible.

I wish they still had golden goals.
Well, that bodes well for England. If they can’t get to the final now…
Whoever makes it will have played two 120 minute matches in a matter of days. And the way the players look right now, I wouldn’t be surprised if some players would pick up injuries.
Japan made it to the knockout stage, their best performance ever at the World Cup (at the time.)
I stand by my comments from earlier, I think Russia will run out of steam in extra-time and Croatia should push their nuts off to stretch them and win it in the 30.
Ill second both you and polar bear. If Russia win they will park the bus and the semi-final will be dire.
Now I’m curious how many home sides have actually won. England, Argentina and France are the only ones that cone to mind.
1930 - Uruguay
1934 - Italy
1966 - England
1974 - West Germany
1978 - Argentina
1998 - France
And Mr Bubble is correct.
Square brackets mine.
Russkies going out!
Russkies going out!
Modric is probably my player of the tournament so far.
I agree. Croatia v England is going to be quite interesting. I would think Croatia will be the favorite.
NO I’M NOT!!!
(well not yet anyway)
Wow. 2-2.
Going to be interesting to watch Croatia’s keeper if this goes to penalties.
What’s the record for most PK shootouts in a World Cup?
You mean highest number of matches that ended in PK shots after 120 minutes, or the higher score ever in a PK shootout in a World Cup?
Looks like 4, so this would tie that.
4, on a few occasions. This is the fourth of 2018
All praise to Russia for raising the level of their game.
