OK, but I’m pretty sure that a final counts as a final. Yes…I’ve just checked, the wiki page still shows them as finalists and winners. It was definitely a final.
What is the cut-off date for relevance? Have Uruguay now not won the tournament?

Romario won in 1994.
I’ve been looking at this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIFA_World_Cup_awards
Forlan won it in 2010 and Uruguay didn’t get to the final.
2018-2014 = 4.
4 years for inmediate relevance.
2018-1986 = 32
32 years for all time relevance (at the moment)
what?
To be fair, that is a very clear answer.
I thought we all knew that football started in 1992, when Sky started broadcasting it?
England lead in a SF for the first time since 1966.
Holy shit
+1
England scores! Nice set piece, free kick that went beautifully into the goal.
This has energized the English, and have been pressing hard, looking for another goal. Nice attack soccer we’re having!
ENG 1 - 1 CRO
Is my feed on delay? Cause its still 1-0 ENG.
Adios Croatia. Even if they manage to tie and this goes to OT yet again, what would they have left in the tank for Sunday?
As a neutral England must win for the good of football.
Mine too.
France will have to worry about England set pieces. DesChamps can’t park the bus against those.
I still don’t get why there isn’t a man on the post. That Maguire header, had it been on target, would leave the goalie scrambling. A man on the post just gets it clear.
This is something I’m curious about. I imagine someone, maybe non-publically, has done analytics on how often a man on the post stops a goal vs a)how much a defender double-teaming an attacker stops a goal or b) how much it helps to have a player further up the field in either winning possession from a clearance or starting a counter attack.
It seems extremely unlikely that a bit of increased chance at winning a clearance would beat extra defensive help, but I hope the reason people aren’t guarding posts isn’t just laziness.
Fuck, my mistake… and out of time to edit! >.<
Disregard that score.
ENG 1 - 0 CRO
And right now England almost scores!
Fucking hell!!!
Kane simply has to score there.
If England lose, Harry Kane should be executed just for that miss.
It has to be analytics. Its the age in which we live.
The thrust of this seems plausible. As I mentioned earlier though, given the success rate from set pieces at this tournament, the presence of VAR and the likelihood that people aim for the corners of the goal to avoid the goalkeeper in the middle of it, it might be worthwhile.
What do I know though? Certainly don’t have access to analysis of thousands of corners to work out what the optimum strategy is…
