Exactly, fans from historical football nations will watch to the end, it doesn’t matter if it’s “done”.
Wonderful goal for Brazil. I love me a good drop-kick.
The goalkeeper was completely unsighted there. But would never have been able to save it regardless.
incidentally the British commentator just said that goal had won it. Probably correct but not certainly.
YouTubeTV only had the BRA-SUI game on Telemundo. That was fun but I’ll need to re-watch it in English as I’m once again confused/miffed about an offside call.
This match is going to be a foul-fest
Or as they say in Uruguay “A football match” (well, “un partido de futbol” but you get my drift)
? It was on Fox - I watched it with YouTube TV. (edit: though it’s possible that your local broadcast network put something else on during it - that’s the one issue with OTA broadcasts).
Anyways, the reason it was offside is because Richarlison came from a very offside position to be directly involved in the play (when he and the Swiss player came together causing the ball to deflect into the path of a Brazilian forward).
Nah, the current Urus are choir boys compared to their squads of the eighties and nineties…Damn, I remember some ugly play from that time. Their motto seems to have been “We’ll destroy your game and may break some bones in the process”.
Yeah the old traditions are fading away, but in this match they seem to want to rekindle the old flame.
What a play by Bentancur!, Rioplatense football style.
(notice that when they foul too much they are Uruguayans but when they dribble multiple adversaries they are “Rioplatenses” )
the sentiment is right but the priorities are reversed.
Did Ronaldo touch the ball? It’s still not clear to me after many replays.
I saw no deflection…
Ah, just saw a clear perspective. No, it was not his goal. Which would’ve been the record goal for Portugal in WCs.
He didn’t touch it, but I get the impression that if he hadn’t been there, the keeper would have gotten to it. So partial credit.
Agreed. If Ronaldo hadn’t made that run, the keeper would have easily ran out and caught it, but he had to be aware of Ronaldo heading it which kept him back in the net.
I totally agree, it was half Ronaldo’s goal. But of course the last one who touched the ball will be the official scorer. And now he’s out and didn’t even complain!
Oh come on, I don’t know what the defender was supposed to do with his hand…
I haven’t understood the rules for handball in the box for a lot of years now…
Looks like any kind of contact is ruled penalty, but combine that with the cursed VAR and the defenders will have to fall without using his hands, may be breaking one’s fall with one’s head will be the new fashion
