The legend of Louis van Gaal grows yet again, regardless of how this ends.
Is that the greatest free kick in football history? Surely has to be a contender. Pure craziness !!!
All I can say is, wow. Just wow.
If this goes to penalties I think Argentina collapse. They’re mentally not doing well already.
Kinda think it doesn’t make it there though. Dutch might even grab 2 in the next 30.
Going from seeing themselves in the semifinals to having to go to extra time at literally the last second must have been a very hard psychological blow for Argentina.
I had the impression that Argentina in the last 20-30 minutes were exhausted. If the Netherlands can keep up their pressure, there’ll be no penalties.
ETA: but what do I know, I criticized Weghorst’s substitution…
if “greatness” is a product of invention x execution x timing then yes, it must be up there.
Now that Argentina aren’t parking the bus, and Netherlands aren’t desperate for a goal, it actually seems like Argentina are back in control possession wise
Got to agree Argentina look deflated and tired.
Yeah, that touch out of bounds is 100% tired legs.
I think I’ve watched this free kick like 10 times.

Did that go in off an Argentina player?
I was looking at 538’s predictions before the equalizer and Argentina was a moderate favorite to win the whole thing. Only really meant they’d be favored over Croatia, but funny to go from “overall favorite” to the entire thread thinking they’re likely to go out today.
I don’t envy the ref, very physical game. 11 yellows? He’s done well so far. Stupid penalty leading to the Argentine kick and second goal, wish they could have got a better view of it. Quick Dutch response, stupid penalty at the last second, a brilliant second Dutch goal (player in offside position, smart to ignore it) to keep things exciting. Which team would win on penalties? I don’t envy the keepers either … jeepers…
It was ballsy as hell! I’m cursing both teams for making me miss my power nap.
At this point it looks like it’ll go to penalties. Argentina had the best of the possession and chances in that first ET.
Frodo’s gotta be a wreck.
I’m personally of the opinion that Argentina should be down to nine players.
10 for sure.
Timber is lucky to still be on several final warnings from the ref
