They’re completely different things. QuestHelper helps you complete quests, while Gatherer helps you find things like ore and herbs for the Mining and Herbalism professions. Gatherer also keeps track of things like the treasure chests you sometimes come across.
Okay, thanks. Seems like I’m always asking questions, don’t it.
Here’s an anecdote, and it’s true: Right after I started playing (and having seen several magazines of this nature) I went to my local GameStop and asked the guy there if he had any
(sorry if this is the wrong word) Cheat Books for Warcraft and he looked at me like I smelled of shit.
I realized immediately what a huge gaffe I made, became ashamed and apologized.
See, kiddos? Even at 59 (when we’re supposed to know better) we screw up. Sometimes minorly and sometimes majorly. Lately with me it’s been the latter.
Your better bet is to ask for a strategy guide. Not quite the same connotations.
Bradygames Battle Chest Guide?
Also jay, picking up the oats for poor old blanchy. What am I supposed to do with that turquoise-colored box?
Thank you!

Honestly, Quasi, you may be best suited by going to WoWHead.com, thottbot.com or even WoWWiki. No point in spending money on things that can just as easily be found on-line, for free.
And on another note, how many people here would describe themselves as “raiders?” I’ve been clearing Heroic Naxx for the past 3 months or so, and yet still, I’ve yet to see the “Torch of Holy Fire” drop from KT. I have the highest DKP in my guild right now, and yet, the four things I’d spend it on have yet to drop. (bracers and cloak from 2 drake Sarth, the mace, and then the Valorous healing robe… [kept thinking that the latter would drop from Heroic Vault])
OOPS! Quasi the idjit just realized that jay may not have even chosen to do that quest!
Sorry jay, for being so presumptive!
I can just imagine you saying, “Well Jesus Quas’, who died and made ME the WoW God of all Gods???”
I’m really sorry, my friend and I’ll find out and watch it in the future!:o

Also, Calatin:
I did just join WoWWiki!
Thanks…
Casual raider - I’m a perennial “substitute” ranged DPS for the big guild raids. I enjoy it, but don’t have the motivation to devote the many hours a week needed to be in the elite category.
I’ve been playing two and half years and I’m still constantly asking questions. It never ends. The inability to know everything about the game is part of what keeps it interesting.
I would describe myself as a raider. I’m an officer in one of the top guilds on our server and raid 4 night a week, 4 hours a night plus off-night raids. I have no life.
But I enjoy raiding and it’s fun to do it with a good group, and it keeps me off the street.
Can someone please tell me how to get my fishing pole off my back and my sword back in my hand, please. This is embarrasing
Thanks
Quai
I’ve just discovered that the reason my guild leader has been missing for the last couple weeks is that she’s broke and can’t afford to pay her WoW subscription. Is there an online way I can pay it for her? My friend at work who also plays WoW suggested just buying a game card and e-mailing her the code but if I can save myself a trip to the store by doing it online …
What should work is to right-click the sword and it will “equip” automatically. If that doesn’t work, come back and we’ll try something else.
It worked, and thanks very much for helping! I didn’t realize I had been fighting with my fishing pole till I turned sideways, and said “What the hell is that and where did it come from???”
Thanks, Broomie

Heh. I was fishing one day when one of those big lobster things snuck up behind me and attacked … I had no choice but to beat it to death with my fishing pole (I did discover some time later that it is possible to switch weapons in the middle of combat, so I haven’t had to do that again.)
Oh, and I got your private message, Quasi, but Broomstick answered here before I could.
I was fishing in Zangarmarsh one day (that’s in Outland) and something attacked me. It seemed to take a loooooooong time to kill it. Then I realized I’d used my fishing pole to beat it to death. Almost fell out of my seat laughing.
In Northrend you can earn a really kick-butt fishing pole that does 447-672 damage in combat. That’s a fun one! It also lets you breathe underwater when it’s equipped, but there’s a rep grind and you’ll need to be at least level 68 to even try to get it (and realistically over 70)
Hey, don’t worry about it, Quasi! I was actually out of town this weekend, only read and answered that one question from the bar (they have an internet setup), then was internet-deprived the rest of the weekend.
I have done Old Blanchy’s quest, but I can’t remember a turquoise box being involved.
Im currently grinding for it =)
And why yes I do a lot of fishing, and have whapped stuff to death with my pole, thanks for noticing =)
The Old Blanchy quest reward is Old Blanchy’s Feed Pouch (an 8-slot bag) and Old Blanchy’s Blanket (a cloak).
My recent fishing story: my 68 Hunter was in The Barrens farming for the Savory Deviate Delight recipe. I wanted it bad. As a 68, I one-shotted everything. I knew that I might have to kill literally thousands of mobs to get the drop, but I was hoping my number would come up early on.
After killing about 400 harpies and whatnot, I decided to take a break and fish for some deviate fish at one of the oases (oasises?). About 10 minutes in, a turtle attacked me from behind, and I turned around and whacked it. Guess what dropped? Yep.
After evaluating the prices of Savory Deviate Delight (maybe 1.8g) vs. the raw fish (about 1g), I decided to sell the recipe. Went for 950 gold on the first listing.
