World of Warcraft General Discussion

You can also type “/who Burning Dog Legion” to get a list of guild members online, and then whisper to them (/w).

Alternatively, you can type “/join SDMB” to enter our guild chat channel. We don’t use it much but most of us are logged in by default.

For some reason, I get a big ol’ lua error from DagAssist. Maybe conflicting with one of my other addons?

Well, it only took a year, but I finally fished up the Magical Crawdad, and got Mr. Pinchy right away. About time! Now I just need Chuck’s bucket and I’m done fishing in Outland.

WoW.com says they’re going to be doing cross-server instances starting in patch 3.3! This means that if you can’t find four other people on your server to run with you, you can use the looking for group tool to find people on other servers to join you. Holy cow!

Question: Names only have to be unique on a single server. What if you find a group with people on other servers and you have the exact same name as one of them?

If you should stick a quest item in your bank, you’ll still see the gold ?, but you won’t be able to turn in the quest because you don’t have the item with you to turn over to the quest giver.

They’ll probably do what they do with Battlegrounds. Everyone is identified by their name and then by their server name. For instance, I show up as Gilderon-Khaz Modan. Granted, it may get a little confusing at first, but no more so than a classroom with two kids of the same first name.

Pity you can’t have a title in there - then I could be Redwarmwind Jenkins Thunderlord. For some reason I find that combination amusing.

Not that it matters - according to the Armory I’m the only Redwarmwind is all the WoW multi-universe

Ah, that makes sense. Having never been in a battleground, I didn’t know how that worked.

Couple interesting things is SW today …

I took the portal from Shatt to SW, and standing there in the Mage Tower was a level 80 draenei shaman whose name was “Wenatchee”, which happens to be the name of the city I live in. I’m pretty certain that my town is the only place in the world with that name (it’s a Native American word from the language of the Yakama people in central Washington state), so it was reasonable to assume that the player behind the toon must be from here.

So I waved and asked, “Wenatchee, Washington?”, at which point she just ran off. And then she ignored my whisper that I live in Wenatchee. Sigh.

Shortly after that, I (and numerous other people, apparently) was amused by a level 8 warrior named “Tehnoob” walking around the SW Trade District asking high-level characters for 7 gold :stuck_out_tongue:
Had a bit of fun last night, playing the one toon I have on Steamwheedle Port, a Roleplaying server. I actually got to roleplay a bit. The character is a male human warrior named Fahrenz, and I elected to give him dark brown skin. So I happened to be in SW, and what do I find but a pair of fine, thick, naked sisters standing in the Trade District. I ended up spending a few minutes chatting with them (though apparently I didn’t start talking quickly enough, because I got a whisper from a different person who admonished me, “Don’t stare.”). The conversation took an amusing turn when somebody steered their little green tank thing (what is that and where do I get one?) into our midst and started shooting. One of the ladies said, “What up with that tank? Somebody tryin’ to kill the darkies?”

Thanks for the info, Skammer

We did go back over to Cairne last night and found ONE guild member, but he said someone else (not he) had to invite me to the guild?

Also where do I find my honor points?

Thanks

Q

Strange Alliance Quest on Desolace? Trying to hook up with a centaur there, and I am w/i 4 yards and don’t see her. Am I supposed to wait till she comes trotting by?

Thanks

Q

They’r not in the bank, IW so maybe I sold them or sent them to Wollkie to auction?

Thanks

Q

Right, only higher-level guild members have the ability to invite. We’ve had some of our older guildies take some time off, so I (or another officer) need to do some promotin’ so more people have the ability to /ginvite. I’ll probably be able to do that when I log in tomorrow.

To see how many honor points you have, bring up your character window and select the “Currency” tab.

(Level 40 Demon ) forgot the name, but got 800 XP (the MOST EVER XP!) from it.

Touch and go for a few, though. That dude was BIG!!!

Thanks again, Skammer!

I tried to get an invite just a few moments ago, and added everyone who came up green as FRIENDS, but again, no one had the authori-TAY to add me!

Will try again tomorrow!

Thanks

I failed once again to win the STV Fishing Extravaganza, but as a consolation I managed to fish up a Rockhide Strongfish, which earned me the achievement, One That Didn’t Get Away

Auctioneer says it has a market price of 55555g

Kinda overwhelmed by all the posts. I don’t think I posted this question before…

I came back to WoW after about an 8-month layoff, after having played casually since the day after launch. Casually, in that I only once got a character over 60, and have done all of ONE instance to completion in the years since I started.

Anyway, is it EXTREMELY easy to get gold nowadays? I remember scrimping and saving to get 100 gold by 40 for my first mount. Even my last main before I quit, a 61 Hunter on (I think) Uther, didn’t have the gold rolling in until late in his career. But I started a Dwarf Hunter on Khaz Modan recently, and I think I had 100 gold by level 10 or 12! I’m currently at 35, have almost 1000 gold, All Frostweave bags, 3 or 4 bank slots with Netherweave bags, blue and high green gear… it’s nuts! I have routinely been able to sell tin ore for 10+gold per stack, Tangy Clam Meat for 15+ gold per stack, as well as two or 3 times for 25 gold, and once sold a stack for 50 gold! any random green I can get at least a gold for, even for the shittiest item. Is it like this on other servers?

Forgot - Mining (obviously) and skinning. Medium Leather for 10 gold FTW!

Joe

It really depends on the server. The older the server, the more gold has entered the game via quest rewards and drops from enemies. The older servers have people who I’m sure think nothing of dropping 10g a stack of copper ore just to jumpstart their Jewelcrafting alt.

I don’t expect to have 1000 gold by level 35 on Cairne, but I’m doing pretty well for myself. Both my characters are level 26, Mining and Skinning on both, and I have 236 gold. I am using up materials for Cooking, Fishing, and First Aid, so that’s money I could be making, but not having a crafting profession is making a huge difference in how much money is coming in.

Also, I’ve been kinda going overboard with the shopping. :o Especially once I realized people want my Druid to heal for their instances while I’m leveling up, so I had to buy a caster set of gear for those times (having all Agility, Strength, and Stamina gear while healing means OOM fast). It’s gonna be tricky maintaining two sets of gear as I level, but I also need to stop shopping so much.

Nice! I still don’t have that.

I did get a cool item via pickpocketing today, though: Decahedral Dwarven Dice. Trying to decide whether to use them or sell them on the AH.

Schweet!

So … what am I missing here? I’ve been round and round Dalaran, and I can’t find the plate armor dealer (not that I have any tokens/badges/whatever to buy stuff with; I just wonder where it is). I’ve located the dealers for all the other armor types, but not plate. The only plate I’ve found are some boots from the cobbler gnome guy upstairs in the cloth armor shop …

Haven’t seen any shields, either.

Not many EU players then, oh well. I’ll ask again in a while and see if we have enough to start something up.

Quick question - where will I end up if I log out in an instance? Our Sunken Temple run did not go to plan though with only two of us (level 55 paladins) it might be expected, only one wipe (so far) but also only one boss dead.
