World of Warcraft General Discussion

That’s what I figured…

Ah yes. I encountered him shortly after I posted. I’ve had to save him twice so far. Now his mother’s dealing with him.

Curious. And what a stupid commercial.

Found this article sort of explaining it: http://www.wowinsider.com/2007/11/30/lolol-got-name-changed/
Anyway … right now I’m grinding to hit 68. I’ve got major upgrades for my polearm, 2-hand mace, and 1-hand sword sitting in my mailbox, all waiting for 68. I couldn’t find any suitable 2-hand swords on the AH, which was a bit frustrating. However, a few minutes ago I happened to ride into Halaa where I found a weapon dealer who sold me a green 2-hand sword that is about +13DPS over my current 2-hander, for about 9g, so that worked out.

Is it just me, or are mining nodes ridiculously scarce in Outland? (Outside of fel iron nodes in Hellfire Peninsula, that is.)

The moment you hit 68, go to Northrend and do the starting quests there (either zone). You’ll be vendoring all those weapons in your mailbox in short order.

A little late in the discussion, but here’s a pic of my very cool bank alt with Ruby Shades.

Any miners here? Have any of you ever mined an actual Khorium Vein?

Both Gatherer’s downloaded WoWHead.com database and my toon’s own “Find Minerals” ability keep identifying spots as “Khorium Vein”, but when I get to the node it turns out to be Adamantite instead. I just had three nodes in a row like that.

Is Khorium an alternate for adamantite nodes, like silver is for tin?

I’ve mined enough to sell a stack of 20 Khorium bars. Most of those I found in Blade’s Edge mountains and a few around the edges of Silvermoon Valley (haven’t been in Netherstorm at all, though I’d imagine they’re there too). I think I only found one or two in the other Outland zones.

Well, Khorium ore/bars are Green like Silver and Gold are, so I’d imagine so.

I don’t know if they’re “rare spawn” versions of adamantite, but I’ve mined quite a few khorium veins.

Khorium nodes are like silver nodes, they show up randomly in place of the more common nodes.

So, on the topic of getting your account hacked, has that happened to anyone here? I ask, because that seems to have happened to me yesterday morning, and as of now, my account (which I’ve had for three years, since launch) has been permanently banned for violating the EULA.

When I realized what happened, I contacted Blizzard account administration immediately. So far, I’ve only received an automated, “We got your email” response. Anyone else have experience with this who can tell me how long it might take to get my account back, if I can expect to get my stuff restored, etc?

I’m mostly asking because there’s not much I can do until Blizzard gives me a real email response, and I want to feel like I’m doing something about this. And tracking down the hacker and carving his guts out with a rusty spoon is probably not a legitimate option.

(Okay, I’m mostly asking because I want to whine about it and have someone tell me it’s going to be alright.)

We had a guild member, an officer, whose account was hacked, had all his stuff sold, AND had all the guild bank stuff he could access sold (note for those buying gold - this is one of the ways it is obtained. By buying gold on line you could be prompting this sort of misery on your fellow players).

It took awhile, but the affected person did have his account restored. He got most, but not all, of his stuff back. Some of the stuff he didn’t get back was nice, epic, difficult to acquire stuff. The guild got some of their stuff back, but certainly not all of it.

The thing is, I’m hovering over the yellow node indicator in the minimap, and it’s explicitly saying “Khorium Vein”, just like it would say “Silver Vein” if that’s what was there. I suspect what may be happening is that when I mouseover the indicator what’s actually getting read is that little ring that Gatherer sticks in there. If that’s the case, it’s surprising that it happens with khorium/adamantite nodes but not with silver/tin nodes. Weird. I did finally manage to find a khorium node, but that was one I just randomly stumbled upon without seeing it on the minimap first.

Different question: I decided to try my hand at taking out the Horde guards at Halaa (Nagrand) in an attempt to regain control for the Alliance so that I could try to hand in these piles of Osho’gun Crystal Powder Samples I’ve been accumulating (I’ve got 83 of the things). So I attacked the first guard I came across … and could do no damage to her whatsoever, despite the fact that I was 3 levels higher (68 to the guard’s 65) and there was no indication that this guard was any kind of “Elite”. What’s up with that? How do I damage these guards? I’ve yet to see any kind of quest to perform the task, and even if a quest is required I’ve never before encountered a [non-elite] mob that was undamageable just because I didn’t have the quest.

And yet another question: Mark of Kil’jaeden. “Present this to the Aldor in Shattrath City to prove your slaying of a low-ranking follower of the Burning Legion.” I’ve got 23 of these. But it doesn’t give any indication of exactly who among the Aldor I’m supposed to present them to. I’ve talked to as many of the Aldor as I can find that have anything to say, and none of them have anything to say about these Marks. So what do I do with them?

You actually ARE damaging the guards but they have so many hit points - like a dozen bajillion - that the results are minuscule. You have to activate a flyer post near Halaa and bomb the guards from the air. It will take multiple passes. While in theory you can do this solo it will take quite some time.

First of all, you have to be an Aldor member. If you’re Scryer just sell them on the AH. If you’re Aldor you need to go to the Aldor tier in Shattrath City. The highest building on the tier is a temple, and in that temple is a high-muckety-muck priestess who you turn these in to.

Luckily, the only epic items I have are things I crafted myself, so hopefully I’ll get those back. If not, I suppose I can make them again. And I’ve got pretty limited access to my guild’s bank, so I doubt they got burned too badly. Do you remember how long it took for them to get his character back?

At least a couple days - he wasn’t someone I knew too well so I don’t have all the details. They tend not to do much over the weekend, so a couple days starting Monday, probably. Of course, your mileage may, and probably will, vary.

Yeah, I figured I was going to be assed out on Noble Garden this year. I’m just hoping it’s “days” as opposed to “weeks.”

It’s probably because someone else mined that node when it was khorium and that’s what gatherer has that node listed as. If you or someone else also mined fel iron from it it should list that as well in a dropdown when you hover over the (gatherer) node on your map.

Erg. I’ll pass then, and just wait until I see it’s Alliance again.

I’m currently Neutral with the Aldor and Unfriendly with the Scryers. My only interaction with the Aldor so far was to turn in a piece of Fel Armament, which I think got me something like 350 rep with them and -435 with the Scryers. Also, I log out in the Aldor inn when I’m in Shattrath

Most of the Outland nodes showing on my map were imported from WowHead.com.

If there happens to be an Alliance group retaking Halaa you might want to get in the fun - I really enjoy the bombing runs myself. But waiting is perfectly OK>

I’m sorry - I misspoke. You turn the fell armament in to the priestess. The marks go to a Dranei standing in front of the stairs going up to the temple. He should have a ! or ? above his head. Sorry for any confusion that might have caused.

Noble Garden is postponed this year until after patch 3.1 comes out.
