World of Warcraft General Discussion

But doggonit, the costume doesn’t show up on the character selection screen when you log out. You still have it on when you log back in, just not on the character selection screen. (I was hoping to do my usual “portrait” screenshots of all my toons in costume.)

Also, and I didn’t really notice this on my female blood elf pally, but immediately noticed it on my female human pally: the costume changes your face, too. And dontcha know it, it’s the human female face the Blizz developers seem to love so very very much. Seriously, this particular face shows up on one human female NPC/mob after another. OTOH, I apparently picked the least popular (among Blizz devs) female face when I made my human pally. The only NPCs I’ve seen with “my” face are the black-haired female guards in Theramore and the Scarlet Onslaught Gryphon Riders on that island off the coast of Icecrown.

Quasi goes:
Sorry, I’m still pissed at mine and Wolkie’s performance of last night!

Note to ShinTo: Thanks for the tips on the quests! I try my BEST to remember, but sometimes stuff just gets away from me. That goes for the rest of mah kids as well.

I know y’all must get exasperated with me, but I’m doing the best that I can, and I know damn well I could never have made it to 49 without y’all.

Just be grateful you’re not married to me!

Thanks!

Your friend

Today’s Irregular Webcomic is a hoot:

Avast, Mister Rik!
That was a bit of the ol’ “wink-wink, nudge-nudge”, that was!

“Say no more, say no more!”

Rik ?

That one hit the spot, me hearty!

Yarrrrrr!

Quasi of der Modem!

My latest achievements:

Hero of ther Zandalar Tribe
35 Exalted Reputations
Pest Control

With those, I am now officially a member of the 5000 Achievement Point Club, too!

Only 5 more factions to go…

Yeah, I gave up on it on my druid tank because of that. Had everything else except that achievement.

I just ran heroic TOC again with some guildies (and a terrible, and rude, healer) and got goodies–Marrowstrike and Gloves of the Dark Exile. I also now have both Trial of the Champion achievements.

Grats,Tel!

(Although that doesn’t seem to mean a hell of a lot coming from me! ;))

Q

I appreciate grats from everyone, Quasi!

Sorry about your encounter with the nasty spiders. I used to go up against them with my tamed spider; it felt good somehow to kill them with one of their relatives.

Well, me and Wolkie and Silka will just have to be more careful approaching them, I guess, Tel!

“Keep it REAL!”

Quasi

Jesus! We have one of those “track-ball” mouses (with the red ball??)

Could THAT be why we cannot keep up?

Ogdam thing keeps flying all OVER the screen!

Thanks, Kiddos!

So Muzungu is now a champion for four factions, and has started his valiant quests for the fifth, and I have a question for y’all:

Is there any point to actually finishing the valiant quests with that fifth faction? That is, does becoming a five-faction champion open up some new dailies or something?

The way I see it, while I’m still doing valiant quests for the fifth faction (Darkspear in this case) I’m getting 1,000 rep with that faction and 250 rep with my other Horde factions per day, along with 52+ gold. And as long as I’m doing the regular Tourney dailies, most of the valiant quests (aside from the one fly-all-across-northrend sword-retrieval daily) are ones that I can complete on the way to/from or at the same time as my other dailies, so it really only adds 5-10 minutes, plus another 10 minutes or so for the sword-retrieval daily, to keep doing the valiant quests. So my current plan is to just keep doing the Darkspear dailies at least until I’m Exalted with them, and only then turn in my marks of the valiant and get my achievements. Is there a flaw in this plan?

Yes, there is. It will open up two more dailies awarding Champion’s Seals, give you access to this vendor and if you’re exalted with all the capitals and the Argent Crusade you will get the title ‘Crusader’.
Nothing wrong with your plan though, if you need the Darkspear rep just keep doing the valiant dailies.

Wow, grats Telperien! Now I know what I’ll be rolling on when running H TOC.

I also spent way too long running Brewfest stuff last night, and now I have a tiny pink elekk pet. Now I can start working on the other achievements. I’m glad though that they took out the Brew of the Year requirement for the meta, as that seemed to be a pain for a lot of people especially if they joined after last year’s. The Drunken Stupor achievement was easy for me to get on the first go – just take the TB elevator up to the top, and jump off while aiming for the end of the ramp (not the ground!).

I’m happy to report that my first-ever, instance-with-a-group-at-level was a success! The Burning Dog Legion level-50ish toons ran Sunken Temple last night, and I had a blast. I was the DPS ret paladin, and so I kind of just followed Rillian, the prot pally tank, and stood behind/beside whoever he was tanking and poked 'em with my polearm. We also had Nahren the druid, as well as a priest and a hunter whose names I’m afraid I can’t recall now (sorry!).

I don’t think we had any deaths at all until the very end when we all leaped from the top of the temple down through a big hole to get back to the pool with the altar. I died when I landed, as did the hunter and, I think, the druid. Good thing the two that survived could both rez

I had a bit of trouble at first when it came to loot; I use the Dominos addon to modify my action bars and I was having some trouble getting my roll frame to appear. Finally got it working, though, and I came away with a new polearm, Headspike.

Also, I had purchased an extra Netherweave Bag and stuck it in the slot normally occupied by my Herb bag, expecting to need plenty of bag space. Turned out to be unnecessary. My only previous experience clearing instances has been soloing them with my level 80 human pally when I way out-leveled the dungeons, and so I had all the loot to myself. But with splitting everything up between five people, I didn’t get nearly as full.
Later on when I was in the AH in Org, somebody there said, “Your guild name sounds really sick.” I wasn’t sure if they were talking to me, and they didn’t answer when I whispered them to ask. :dubious:

Earlier yesterday, I was in Tanaris killing those fungus monster things down south, and I ran into this very strange human rogue. He was PvP flagged, and he kept running up right next to me while I was fighting mobs (trying to get me to accidentally right-click on him, I suppose). And he kept up a steady stream of spamming me with random emotes. Hugging me, saluting me, bowing to me, begging for healing (repeatedly) announcing he was out of mana (huh?), making rude gestures… I just ignored him and kept killing mobs, being careful not to right-click him by mistake (though if I had I probably could have taken him - he was level 45 to my level 52 or 53).
Pirate’s Day … anybody else getting tired of the way every single holiday event in the game has turned into an excuse for a few asses to wantonly slaughter every NPC in sight? I think the Horde flightmaster in Booty Bay was constantly either dead or standing on his own corpse yesterday.

I just came across the coolest bit of lore, purely because of the fact that Pirate’s Day was yesterday and today I’m questing in Azshara. I wouldn’t have made the connection otherwise.

My belf paladin got the quest in Azshara from a female orc named Jediga, to collect four old elven tablets. Once I collected the tablets she gave me more quests to deliver them to different people. One of those people is Magatha, a female tauren elder in Thunder Bluff. Magatha happens to be one of the strongest supporters of the alliance between the tauren and the Forsaken, and she believes that this tablet can help her “cure” the Forsaken and return their humanity to them. Or so she says.

It so happens that yesterday I spoke to Dread Pirate Demeza’s first mate, who just happens to be a male tauren. And on his arm is a tattoo that says … “MAGATHA”, in a heart with an arrow through it.

And it seems to me that Dread Pirate Demeza and her crew were all undead.

And Magatha claims to want to “cure” the Forsaken.

I suspect she really wants to bring her boyfriend/mate back.

ETA: Hmmm. And now I see that Magatha’s last name is Grimtotem. Aren’t the Grimtotems that clan of outlaw/outcast tauren who have a camp in Feralas and another in Dustwallow Marsh, and who wiped out that other tauren settlement in Stonetalon Mountains?

Yes, they are. The whole thing is a little weird; check here for the full story (although it isn’t clear why the Tauren tolerate any Grimtotem).

… and I am sorry if this has been asked and answered, but how do I make Wolkie dive?

Thanks!

Q

Hi Mekhazzio thanks for the post, very interesting. Regarding prot pallys mine is level 60 and I have HotR but not sure where to put my next talent points, Deflection maybe? What did you do?

Grats!

We’ve all been there, note to self be really careful using Consecration when there are tiny little cockroaches (or whatever they are) that hit like a tank running around.

Grats!

Grats!

Grats! I have just picked up my level 50 Warlock quests so will be going there again soon, as it took 4 attempts on my pally to clear it I think I may know my way around by now. Such confidence is going to lead to getting lost isn’t it?
