Huh. I have no idea what’s going on with the Thrown, then…
Okay, you target a mob outside of melee range, right? Then you click the action bar button for the darts. And nothing happens?

Did you ‘drag’ the darts from your character panel onto the action bar? You instead need to go to your “spellbook” and find the “Thrown” skill in the first “bookmark” of skills, possibly on the second page. Click and drag that to your action bar, and drop it where the dart icon is, to replace it.
None of my warriors use thrown weapons, but if it’s anything like “Shoot” then the relevant button will be located in the basic skill tab (i.e. the first one, which is not Arms, Fury, or Protection), and will be called “Throw”. That’s the icon that needs to be dragged to the action bar, not the dart icon.
:smack:
Okay, I got all that, thanks, all.
And BTW, I chose “devastate” as my talent point, that’s correct isn’t it?
STILL think it’s a bit of an “anti-climax” when I level and have to start again, but maybe it’s just me?
I just HAVE to share this with y’all:
My left leg is still in a cast from where I broke my ankle, and my right foot is swollen so bad from sitting at the pooter so long, and my wife (my very TOLERANT wife) is telling me I need to stop playing for so long at a time, so when I go the doc on Wednesday, I hoprfully will get this “space boot” off and start riding my bicycle again.
Thanks, and jayjay? IIRC, you’re not a warrior, so quit slapping yourself on the head, buddy! You and the other kids are a HUGE help to me!

:smack: indeed. I seem to have completely misread what you typed. Sorry about that!
:smack: again.
Well, I DID that , Rik, and I now have TWO dart icons, neither of which work.
Is it possible I need to TRAINED in thrown weapons?
The guy across from the AH (Moo Goo Gai Pan?), doesn’t wanna talk to Wolkie either.
Maybe it’s as jayjay says, and it’s a “battle skill”? Should I go into “Battle Stance” to throw them? I have both defense and battle stance right above my bottom action bar?
Thanks
Q
ETA: Stop that, jay!
For those who are too low-level to eat/drink all the brewfest food and drinks:
Those achievements don’t need to be performed during brewfest. So unless you plan on twinking, you can just stash away the high level stuff.
If you can equip it, you have all the training you need to use it.
The Throw ability under the General tab in your spellbook should work as long as you have a thrown weapon equipped. It should work in any stance.
Um, no Berserker stance?
Glyph of Devastate requires level 50 so Wolfie is Ok there however at level 50 you only have two major glyph slots available and I can see from the armory you already have both these glyph slots full so yes you’ll have to replace one of them if you want to use it. If you do replace one of your existing glyphs then you’ll lose the glyph you’re replacing forever so make sure you’re happy to do that. I am not a warrior but have read up a bit about this while investigating tanking for my pally and the recommended tank warrior glyphs are Blocking, Revenge and then one of Devastate or Heroic strike so replace Glyph of Sweeping Strikes. Warriors please correct me here if I’m wrong.
Your last major glyph slot is available at level 80, for future reference you get the following at each level:
Level 15: 1 Major, 1 Minor.
Level 30: 2 Major, 1 Minor.
Level 50: 2 Major, 2 Minor.
Level 70: 2 Major, 3 Minor.
Level 80: 3 Major, 3 Minor.
Quasi if you’re still struggling with this post a screenshot which includes the UI so we can see your action bars.
Actually, no…I was headsmacking myself because I completely forgot the difference between the actual darts and the “Thrown” ability, as far as dragging to the action bar goes. I haven’t had a toon that had to LEARN Thrown for a while…when I make a rogue, it’s already there!
Just FYI, the half barrels of fruit along the path reset your Ram’s fatigue timer if you pass close to them. There are two on the trail and one just past the broken barrel cart. hit each one as you pass and you can do the quest all day. Unfortunately there are none in Org for the barking daily but you can do it if you keep the Ram in the yellow (cantor, I think).
Speaking of the barking daily - I’ve done this successfully twice now. I’ve been keeping the ram at the middle speed (canter?) and usually it gets exhausted before I get to the Valley of Spirits. When it recovers, I go past the last set of flags to complete the objective.
Then, I dismiss the ram by right-clicking on the buff icon, summon my fast mount, and race back to the questgiver before time runs out. I usually have 10-15 seconds to spare.
My question is: once you compete the final bark, do you still have to race the timer to turn in the quest, or can you take your time getting back to turn it in? If it’s a race to turn in the quest, I thought this might be a good tip if anyone hadn’t thought of it.
If you’ve got good timing and are quick with the mouse, you can skip the apple basket that’s past the goblin who gives you the barrels. As you approach, if you jump and spin 180, if you’re close enough he’ll throw you the barrel as you’re already headed back to Brewfest. Time it right, and you can hit the apple basket by the entrance to the canyon before your exhaustion hits 100. Same for when you’re dropping off the barrel, although I haven’t quite got the timing down perfectly for that.
The funny thing about doing this is that the barrel the gobbo throws is only a little faster than your ram at full speed, so if you’re already heading away from him when he throws you the barrel, it’ll slooooooooowly chase you as you’re heading back up the track. I once got to the midway point of the track before the barrel finally caught up with me.
Adjust your speed. What I did yesterday was keep it at a canter (yellow) until the exhaustion meter hit 30, dropped down to a trot (blue) until the meter went down to 10, then kept it on canter until it hit 50, by which time I was already out of the Valley of Honor. I let it drop back down to 30, then kept it on canter until I was past the Valley of Spirits and had the objective completed. Doing it this way I was able to make it back to the Brewfest stall before I ran out of time on the ram.
Once you hit all four locations, you do not have to make it back to the stall with the ram. Once you have objective complete, you’re free to dismiss and run back.
By the way, it’s Patch Day, in case you haven’t logged in yet. Looked to be about a 40M download. I skimmed the patch notes – nerfs for rogues and pallies, new Onyxia stuff, and a SFK(!) fix.
Dammit…I’ve got to start logging in BEFORE I leave for work on Tuesdays, just in case. 40 MB isn’t that bad, but there have been some monsters that I had to sit there and watch load.
My guild did the Onyxia raid several times as a last-gasp thing before the changes. Apparently much fun was had by all participants, except Ony herself.
I am grinding away at Skyguard rep still so I can have a nifty nether ray. I just started the Outpost dailies. Wrangling aether rays is fun; you end up with a bunch of them attached to you by stretchy leashes, and they bounce along after you in a pretty cute way for critters with such scary teeth.
I thought you couldn’t get the falling achievements while using any kind of shield or invulnerability? Or did they change that (or did I mishear)?
Anyway, next time, just jump off of this spot in Shattrath. (You MUST jump and not step off.)
The trainers in the starting areas only offer lower levels, if I recall correctly. If you get lost trying to find your trainer in a capital city, talk to a guard, ask about a Class Trainer, then ask for Warrior. That will put a little red flag on your map for you where the trainers are.
I’ll send myself a message right now to check him out when I get home.
Do you have any LW friends? They might be able to make you something. Otherwise, I posted a guide somewhere in this thread about how to use the search features on Wowhead to find upgrades, which could be a good way to see what quests to do or bosses to grind. Aha, here it is!
Plus, most buffs of this kind (a) will disappear when you mount (or shapeshift) and (b) can be gotten rid of by right-clicking the buff icon that appears next to your map.
If you’re staying with this Protection spec, yes, that’s perfectly right. Devastate should be one of your main attacks, and it replaces Sunder Armor. (It does the same armor-reducing effect on your enemy, but it also causes damage.)
It sounds like you still have the darts themselves on your action bar, instead of the skill to use them. Make sure you open up your **ability **book (“P”), go to the **General **tab, and drag down the **Throw **button.
Absolutely correct. Sweeping Strikes is of zero use for a Protection Warrior, so Quasi, you are good to replace that one. (There are actually some other glyphs that are good for tanking depending on the situation, but it’s not really relevant to what Wolkie would need.)
Personally, I keep the ram at a trot (green) while bursting into canter (yellow). This is a technique whereby you hit the reins just enough to slip you into the next speed, but then let yourself drop back down again. This will often avoid ticking up your Exhaustion debuff. So it basically looks like a really jerky ride as you pop in and out of the higher speed.
Once I’ve barked at my last location, I whip the ram all the way up to gallop and ride it to full Exhaustion, then dismount and ride my normal mount back to turn in the quest. This usually gives me a full minute of wiggle room.
Yes, you must **turn in **the quest before the timer expires. You won’t get credit if the timer runs out, even if you’ve barked at all the locations.
I actually had one hit me **just **as I got to the turn-in, once. (Fortunately, it’s only the animation that’s delayed. The barrel itself appears in your inventory immediately.)
Okay – I think Bosstone misunderstood my question: I know I can dismiss the ram before turning in the quest; I was wondering if I had to turn in the quest before the timer ran out even if I had completed the objective. SFG says yes, which is what I thought. So I can’t finish the barking and then go browse the AH before heading back to the questgiver. That’s what I thought, which is why I dismiss the ram and use my fast mount once the barking is done.
