World of Warcraft General Discussion

Heh. I leveled Ret, and being a Paladin I thought I needed a good balance of Strength, Stamina, and Intellect/SP. This was before I realized Judgments of the Wise was giving me 20% mana back every time I judged (my reading comprehension sucks, I always skip over important phrases). Once I realized I essentially had infinite mana as long as I kept judging, I dumped Intellect gear so fast.

Wait… who is FL again?

FL = Flame Leviathan, first boss of Ulduar. It’s a fight that takes place entirely in vehicles. (Excluding anybody you toss up on top of him to force a shutdown, of course.)

Fat Lady. She Sings. You get loot.

I like tacoloco’s version better.

 And the Viking hat would even fit in really well in NR!

Speaking of which, if you can find a tauren with the Horseman’s helm and a good set of horns, take a picture as it is a thing of awesome. My guildie was amused by the fact that the helm does the same cackle if you click on it. Is there any other gear in the game that has a similar effect?

Thanks, SFG. This was the first ‘serious’ raid for nearly all of us guildies (small group, not pugging half the team, buffs, vent, coordination) so it’s even more impressive imo. The non-guild acquaintances were favorably impressed by how far we were burning the bosses down first go-round, so I guess we didn’t suck as badly as some.

Not that I can think of off the top of my head, but I now demand that Thorim drop a helm that says, “IN THE MOUNTAINS!” when you click on it.

Heh. One of the guys we run with (not a guildie, but a friend of the guild if you will) uses that line as his Vent introduction. “I remember you… In the Mountains…” in a dead-on Thorim voice. Always good for a laugh.

If I had a helm that gave that speech, well, let’s just say it would get abused.

And yeah, the Headless Horseman’s helm looks bad-ass on a Tauren. Too bad I can’t actually wear it, but it looks cool in the previewer.

For a similar effect, go to Thorim’s page on Wowhead (make sure to get the Thorim that’s in Ulduar–the easiest check is to look for the one that cons red for A and H), click to the Comments tab, and then search down the page for “in the mountains.” A little ways down, someone has linked all of the script commands to play various bits of his dialogue, including that one. Just copy it, paste it into a chat prompt, hit enter, and voila! You can make him repeat it to your heart’s content.

I have found that Arathi Basin BG is the best to rack up HKs with very little dying in the process. I have been on top of the last few leaderboards in honor because I just go straight to the center flag (Blacksmith’s) and cap it, and then just stay there and defend it. I keep getting HKs from all of the other kills from all 5 points (IMHO) since I’m in the middle of the BG, which propels me to the top spot, plus I get the honorable defender buff (+50%) for staying there. Once I get the Horde flag up, I throw down a fish platter and announce it to my Hordies who are spawning at that adjacent graveyard…ask about 3 or 4 of them to stick around to defend while the Alliance just try to capture the peripheral flags while our Hordies are holding half of them (2 out of the remaining 4) which means we usually keep a 3 to 2 lead or better throughout most of the round = WIN. One time, I did manage 100 HKs with only 2 deaths…very easy to get the GNERD achievement in one round! Honor is well over 1000 for the round each time. Wintergrasp is much easier to get Honor points, but this method makes for a good second choice.

I just want spellpower to affect bandages. Or have a talent that allows that. 5k bandages don’t do you much good when you have 30k+ hitpoints as a tank.

For that matter, I want to see rogues or warriors with a bandage healer spec! :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh no, please don’t give me another stat to have to stack. :stuck_out_tongue: And I say this as a tank who’s sitting at over 36k unbuffed in her maximum EH set.

Bandages are for quick recovery between fights–when a tank is likely to be topped off by the healers, anyway. I almost never use bandages in raids, unless I happen to be in my DPS spec or I’m helping to heal up a DPSer. They’re useless when you’re actively tanking, because as soon as you take damage, it breaks the channeled bandaging–you’d be lucky to get a single tick in.

36K? Doesn’t that hurt your back?

Okay, Wednesday night Burning Dog Legion Classic Dungeon Run night!

I have a plan A and a plan B tonight.

Plan A: If we have a warlock (Lockbird) with us, we do BRD. I swear this is the last time. Rummy and I (and possibly one or two others) can complete that pre-req quest in the jail cells that needs to be turned in at Org. Then we hearth, turn in the quest, get the ‘save the princess’ quest and Lock summons us back. From there we head to the Grim Guzzler and go off to the princess. The reason I want to do this is 1) I’ve been doing all these instances with Mordrin, and he wasn’t here last time to complete BRD and 2) it’d be nice to do that quest.

Plan B: If we don’t have a lock with us, we’ll go down to Feralas and tackle Dire Maul East. I know I’m not the only one ready to move on to something different after doing BRD so many times.

All female WoW toons have reinforced spines and back musculature. Otherwise, many of them would have collapsed years ago.

Fun fact: after some new gear, I’m creeping up toward 38k. I think I very well may shit my pants when I hit 40.

Exciting night for the guild yesterday–which of course, I missed out on the best of. :smack: Got another nine people their Starcaller (Algalon kill on 10-man), and two-shotted a server-first Northrend Beasts on 25-Heroic. I was back in for Jaraxxus, but we only had a few attempts before we had to call it because people were getting tired-sloppy. So, fingers crossed for more server-first kills tonight… man, I hope we get to Anub!

Grats! Highest hp I’ve seen on a tank is 43,000 (not a druid, either); he tanked us through Heroic UK at a sprint; didn’t even stop to gather before or rest after the bosses.

Well, I got the overall Trick or Treat achievement (EK, Kal, Outlands) last night on my Alliance-side DK on Sentinels. I started it Monday night but misunderstood it to mean that you had to actually do the Trick or Treat with the innkeepers, which frustrated the hell out of me because of the 1-hour cooldown. Then I realized that you only had to grab the candy out of the pumpkins. Reading the achievement text FTW!

I forget, do the flimsy masks come from the handful of candy (from the pumpkins)? Or just from trick-or-treating with the innkeepers?

Saw another flying broom last night and two more sinister squashlings, as well as the pumkin-army sword and plate helmet, drop from HH. I’m debating whether or not to bother with running HH every day since I have everything useful that he drops except the mount, which I never saw dropped all of last year.

Flimsy masks are from trick-or-treating. The candy buckets only give candy, XP, and/or money.

I now have the Sinister Squashling and the Hallowed Helm, so I have that achievement. I’m going to try to finish the buckets in a few days, and possibly try for G.N.E.R.D. Rage, though I don’t PVP at all. Getting all the masks is proving to be difficult.

The masks aren’t required to complete Hallowed Be Thy Name for WALSTIB, if that’s what you’re trying to get them for (I specifically made sure to check that last night because I haven’t gotten a single mask from the innkeepers so far, period). If you’re just being a completist, good luck!
