If that’s the Alliance equivalent to the Sunreavers (I think it is), then you get rep with them from doing Tourney quests and dailies.
I noticed that the shield was gone and it is just a hole now. The only time I’ve been around that way was for the Holiday achievement for eating at the UC table. The picture was taken 12/18/08 at 11:42pm. Maybe they didn’t remove the shield until a later patch?
Yeah, they’re sort of across the valley from the Sunreavers’ base in Crystalsong. So there’s dailies? Where? The faction existed long before the Argent Tournament showed up, so I’m assuming the Tournament isn’t the only place to get these quests …
(I know, I could look this up on WowHead, but right now I can’t seem to access WowHead or WowWiki.)
At that time, any Mage wearing +Healing gear was (a) stealing the gear from someone who could use it more, (b) upgrading from gear so crappy that it was actually worthwhile to pick up something that had a useless stat on it, or (c) clueless about their class. None of those is going to look good to a hardcore raiding guild. Now, I dunno how hardcore the guild that shitty-GM was applying to was, but I just thought it was funny that he might have been shooting himself in the foot.
That piece was my Infamous Blue Chest. When I first started raiding, I could not for the life of me get a tanking chest to drop. I actually had Last Laugh before I had an epic chest. My friends still tease me about it.
IIRC, there are two in Coldarra (Borean Tundra, by the Nexus). One is from a guy under the Transitus Shield (big pink bubble); one is from a woman up on one of the floating platforms by the Nexus.
The fastest way to get your rep, though, will be to equip your Wyrmrest tabard in dungeons, **especially **Heroics once you’re 80.
Argent Tournament. That’s it. The little station in Crystalsong doesn’t do anything.
Awesome!
I think it went away as soon as Wrath launched–or did Dalaran not move in until later? I do remember that it happened very abruptly; we were quite disappointed that there was no in-game event for it. Just log off one day, then the servers are down for a patch, and you come back, and Dalaran’s gone.
Nope. Like SfG said, Tourney is it; I think I hit exalted with them about the time I got done grinding out my fourth faction champion title.
Think how much fun it must have been for all those mages guarding the outskirts (and the detention camp). Wake up one day, discover you missed the memo about moving back into the city before it teleports.
Oh dear god, the cooking daily is Convention at the Legerdemain again, for like the 6th day in a row, and the fishing daily is Dangerously Delicious, for at least the 4th day in a row
I find myself only doing the ones that you can complete in town very easily. Especially now that I have all the recipes and a ton of unused cooking awards (after buying the hat).
The only fishing daily I really do is the jewel of the sewer since it’s close. I still pick them up each in case I find myself near the appropriate area, but then I delete them the next day as a new quest comes.
Just a reminder for the Burning Dog Legion: guild run of Dire Maul North tonight. We have three folks signed up (Rillian, Mordrin, Ghworg) so we need two more dps.
Yup. Those factions have been around for a while - they also man the respective sides’ inns in Dalaran - but with absolutely zero way to up your Neutral rep with them. Doing dailies at the Argent Tournament for your cities’ questgivers will also provide Silver Covenant/Sunreaver rep, and when you unlock the Champion dailies in the big Argent tent at the Tournament, those give Argent Crusade + Silver Covenant/Sunreaver rep as well.
As to the Tournament … I’ve encountered another of those annoying frustrations with [apparently] inadequate/insufficient/braindead instructions. I chatted with that Master of the Melee, who informed me that he can’t train me until I’ve equipped a lance and a tournament mount. Which he says I’ll find at/in front of my faction’s pavilion.
Wandered over to the pavilion. Wandered around for quite some time before finally noticing the tiny “Lance Rack” next to the door. Went looking for a horse. In front of the pavilion, as instructed. There … Are … No … Mounts that don’t already have an “Argent Valiant” sitting on them, or are there purely for display purposes. Nor does there seem to be an NPC ready to issue me a mount.
WTF?
To your left when you exit the Silver Covenant Pavilion, lots of mounts there.
Yup, just like Mogle said, they’re right outside the door lined up. Keep in mind that there are various types of mounts. When you just start out only one of them will be available to you (your cursor will turn in to the green “mount up” arrow). The other mounts will be available as you progress in the Argent Tournament quest lines and gain reputation with the factions.
Dalaran actually disappeared BEFORE Wrath launched, during the time of the Scourge Invasion.
I sorta liked the way it just went >poof!< and folks found out by players going by the place and noticing it was gone. OMIGOSH! Someone stole an entire city!
Huh. Those are the ones I was referring to as “display purposes only”. I thought I moused over all of them and didn’t get anything at all. Guess I’ll have to check again - clearly I missed something. Or maybe it was more of the “bugs” like I was seeing last night. In addition to the issue with the Moonglade portals, when I was doing the quest where you have to go through The Breach, kill the risen Argent Crusaders, and hit them with the holy water, I could select the mobs to attack them and then loot the bodies, but when I clicked again to select them to use the holy water, they were untargetable, though using the holy water still worked.
Man, I wish I’d been around for that. It looks like I started playing mere days after Wrath launched (last year’s Winter Veil was going on when I started).
Mister Rik, I don’t donate to the guild bank, except for small, cheap stuff. Anything valuable I keep in my own bank(s). That way if the guild goes under or I tell the GM to EABOD, I still have my stuff. We don’t get repair money from the bank, FWIW.
Be sure you do have the lance equipped, and that you are mousing over the mount for your race. You start out working on that race’s rep first if I recall correctly.
There were some serious lag issues going on last night that created problems looting and casting (for me and my party, anyway). You could have been a victim of that if you were on my server.
I’m already Exalted with all five Alliance races (yay, Ambassador!) - does that make a difference? Or does the Tourney have it’s own, separate rep counter?
Well, I’m on Lightbringer. Dalaran was so crowded last night it was almost un-navigable, and the lag seemed to follow me clear into Storm Peaks and Icecrown, though it diminished greatly in Dragonblight. Don’t know how that would affect Moonglade, though.
