World of Warcraft General Discussion

I thought we were talking about classic WOTLK heroics, you know, for the random daily.

As a healer, you have to make a decision after a while to just let people die. The place where this became obvious toevery healer that plays the game was in Koralon. The single leading cause of death in that encounter was standing in fires. These days a healer will not throw more than two heals on you if you are standing in the fire (Grid can be configured to shows debuff when you are standing in fire). At some point you just have to let the stupid people die.

They all are.

I tip ZERO for DE. I don’t know anyone in a guild that tips anything to get DE.

I think it would even make more sense to allow DE even if there wasn’t anyone with enchanting in the group so that every group would get a DE option. What I think would also make sense is to give enchanters a recipe for a BOE wand that lets you DE stuff.

But if we are going to talk about what would be best for my toon in particular, I think that they should make borean leather convertible into arctic fur only if you are a leatherworker, right now anyone can convert borean leather into arctic fur. I also think that they should make titanium powder much cheaper so that JC don’t have to do the JC daily every day for a year to get all the recipes.

I thought we were talking about what is best for the game, not what is best for you in particular.

I did see a group of 60’s try to kite that dragon to Goldshire once. That was comedy gold. It, literally went step, step, die then the next person would aggro it. I don’t think they even made it to Darkshire.

Hodir has a bunch of them and Freya has mushrooms and stuff and Anubarak has permafrost, there are a bunch.

I haven’t been able play since the patch (except for the Dire Maul run) and I can’t access wow-related websites from work. Can someone give me a quick primer on the new content?

I know there are three (?) new 5-mans instances. And you have to do them in order to unlock them? They can be done regular or heroic, right? Are they on par with the H ToC 5-man or more difficult?

Then there is the ICC raid, which can be done 10- or 25-man, which Mekhazzio has descibed above, I think. And this is a step up in difficulty from the ToC raids?

Just trying to figure out what I want to do when I finally get to start playing.

Yeah, I hear you. You’re saying that this is an enchantment nerf of some sort but its not, I have a mage JC enchanter and frankly I like the change because it saves me all that time at the end of a heroic trying to distribute the shards and stuff.

I almost never have to supply my own mats for enchantments. I think cheaper mats is going to equal people upgrading their enchants more frequently which will probably get me more tips if I had the time to sit around enchanting for tips. Frankly I wish everyone in my guild could just go to the guild bank and just get any of my enchants from the guild bank, it would save me about half an hour after every raid.

Folks in the endgame don’t generally level tradeskills to make money (gathering skills is another matter). They level tradeskills to get the BOP recipes.

I have enchanting so that I can enchant my rings not so I can make 15 gold enchanting someone’s boots and certainly not so I can make a couple of gold disenchanting a bagful of green loot for someone. And as far as tradeskills go, enchanting is one of the cheaper tradeskills to level. Compared to Engineering, BS, JC, etc. enchanting is a breeze.

Blizzard should let people work on the open wing’s hard modes as soon as the guild has cleared the wing on normal. The problem doing it that way (from Blizzard’s perspective) is that it doesn’t stretch the content enough to keep people buying subscriptions.

The worst case for blizzard is to have people clear all normal and hardmode content before a new wing opens and when the final wing opens, they’ll clear normal and hard modes and then have nothing to do until expansion.

That said, I kinda like the way they’re only opening one wing a month. We can farm the entire wing and get everyone we need to into raids during that time. We recruited a ton of new people and we now have 30+ people on every raid night (which of course, makes us wonder where these people were when we ran Ulduar for the umpteenth time ;)). The flip side is that we’ll probably work on Ulduar hard modes too, which I am most definitely not interested in.

You know Need beats DE right?

My main is an enchanter, and unless there was no other one in my group, I wouldn’t volunteer because I really hated dealing with shards. I like the new system better. Plus I end up with suprise mats in my bags because I never remember the DE rolls I win.

+23 spell power FTW.

It is either $25 or $30. I did a server transfer and a faction change on one toon and I forget which one cost what but it is one of those.

FYI. A nice little thing I found doing a faction change was they let you change to any race of the other faction and you can change your name it you want. I thought I was going to have to pay for those as well, since you can seperately, but they are included in the faction change.

The holloween headless horseman daily is going to be a lot easier now.

Only done the first 2 so far; you’ve got it mostly right, although you need to not only run the instance but also do the little mini-quests inside them to get to the next one. This bit me on the ass because in the second dungeon you need to free 15 slaves, and to get all 15 you need to clear some extra trash, and the rest of the group didn’t want to backtrack, which, fair enough. But it means I only have the quest halfway (or 14/15) done, which meant I couldn’t go on to the next dungeon when we got done with #2.

Oh, and I’d say the dungeons (at least the first 2) are longer but probably not harder than H ToC 5; they’re like normal instances in that there’s a fair amount of trash (and pretty tough trash, we wiped a couple times even though the groups were pretty geared) between bosses, instead of boss-boss-boss like ToC.

Are you saying on Heroic they’re not probably not harder than H ToC, or on regular?

I’ve only done them on Heroic. Not 100% sure, hard to tell how good the group really was. But there wasn’t anything as obviously evil as getting the shammy, poison dude and whirlwind dude to start ToC 5 (at least in the first 2 dungeons).

Yeah, but I never need for “Ooh, pretty, I want it for RP.” I always just greed on it, and usually offer the group a shard in exchange if it’s something I really want. Since my actual weapon was better than this one, it would have been rather ninja-ish to Need on it.

Although, now that groups are cross-server and your party members are people you may never see again and can’t trash your rep as much, I think that such ninja behavior and dropping mid-instance are behaviors that will increase.

Oh speaking of dropping mid-instance…

On Wednesday I was running HoL with a random PUG and halfway through (after defeating the next to last boss) one of our dps disconnected. We hung around for about five mintes waiting for him to show up. At that point, I Voted to Kick. The vote passed so he was kicked out. Then DF gave us the option to fill the spot and we got a new dps in about three seconds. Just awesome.

My question is does DF let you know you’re joining a run already in progress and give you a chance to decline?

Halls of Reflection is probably the hardest Wotlk 5-man so far. The first two bosses(just one long encounter) is kind of like the Brann event in HoS, only 10 times worse and currently top my ‘Most hated encounter list’. Essentially it’s 2x(4 waves mobs + 1 boss) with each wave consisting of 3-5 mobs that spawn all over the room and about half of them are ranged, have fun getting that under control, and to make things even more fun the mobs seem to be quite capable of 2-shotting anyone who isn’t a tank.

The second encounter(with the Lich King!) is a dps race and not too hard, I actually got We’re Not Retreating; We’re Advancing in a Different Direction the first time I tried it

I want to play so bad I’m daydreaming about playing.

And I had the greatest idea for a really cool ground vehicle…a dogsled! Maybe make it a Kaluak rep-unlock buy. Only works in snow (or only works in Northrend, Winterspring, or Dun Morogh).

I’m reluctant to even try the random group feature as I hate Oculus with the fire of a thousand suns, yet I would feel like a real dick if I dropped group upon zoning into Oculus.
