Continued PUG Heroic asshatery today…I swear, the last week+ has been the worst I have seen since I started running heroics.
I’ve been running random heroics with my level 80 Death Knight (Blackspear) on Windrunner (the server where most of my toons are - other than the BDL toons on Cairne
) Today I had one good run - an awesomely quick Occulus run with an excellent group - followed by two disasterous/vexing ones.
First: A Zul’Grub run. After the first three battles, we notice that one of the DPS’ers, a Gnome Mage, is just standing at the back near the entrance, and isn’t contributing anything. Explains why we’re having trouble taking down the mobs. Just as we finish the battle against the four trolls at the bottom of the stairs, the mage makes his way down the hallway and says ‘sorry, was afk’. OK - that happens, though why you would go AFK at the start of a run and not say anything is puzzling. We start on the undead in the next room. Again, the mage just hangs back and doesn’t cast anything. WTF? Because we can’t DPS fast enough, we wipe and have to respawn. Snarls from the others (and me I admit) at the mage, asking him why he’s not doing anything. No real answer from him.
The party leader tries to kick the mage from the group, but apparently you can’t kick someone from a PUG for 5 minutes after a respawn. Whatever. We start on the room again – this time trying to be more cautious on our pulls. Again the mage doesn’t do squat. In fact, he just stands in the doorway until we’re fighting the last group of undead, when he runs into the room and starts looting while we’re still battling. WTF again?? More snarling at the mage who gets all defensive. “Why are you picking on me?” “Because we’re fighting and you’re not casting any spells - and running in and looting while we’re still fighting” is my reply, and it’s the polite one. The party leader again attempts to kick the mage, but the 5 minutes still aren’t up. “Boy, you guys are a bunch of assholes” the mage says. He casts a Dalaran portal, then runs up the stairs and aggros the Troll Boss there (can’t remember its name) and runs back down the stairs. Obviously he wanted to pull the boss onto us and then flee back to Dalaran while we wiped out of spite. Thankfully the boss smacked him down dead before he could get back down the stairs, but the boss was then on us, and though we did our best we wiped again. At that point the tank and healer both said they’d had enough, and abandoned the group, and I followed after respawning.
Second: The next run I got was Halls of Lightning. We had a druid bear tank andS a rogue DPS who were both from the same guild. They were both very good – but the druid was tearing through the instance as if he was on some sort of deadline. We made it past two of the bosses, but the druid over-aggro’d on the mobs in the room just before Loken, and we ended up wiping. When we respawned back at the instance entrance, the druid and rogue didn’t respawn; instead they’d both disconnected. I noticed that it was a couple of minutes after the hour – so maybe they did have a deadline. Still, bailing in the middle of the run like that was kind of a crappy thing to do. The healer decided to leave too, so the two of us that were left decided to abandon the run rather than wait 10-15 minutes for a tank and healer.
Fortunately after that I got an excellent group for the Culling of Stratholme, but I didn’t get the Bronze Drake reins on the Need roll. <sigh>. Still, I’m slowly getting enough triumph emblems that I’m able to start replacing my gear.
