The Burning Dog Legion successfully cleared out the Mana Tombs last night. We had two pallies (prot and ret), two priests (holy and shadow) and a hunter.
We didn’t have a great deal of trouble, except for the void shadows who would fear us and occasionally stun me. I also had a little trouble holding aggro at first, but then we pallies switched auras (so I was using Ret instead of Devo) and that seemed to help. None of the bosses were a problem, except in the sense that they didn’t drop anything I wanted. There was a nice wand and caster cloak, though, that the priests split.
A couple of times I pulled a few more mobs than I intended or got feared into some adds, but we were good enough not to suffer any casualties. The only death on the whole run was mine, when we were at the end of the final escort quest after killing the last boss. No big deal; the rest of the group took the mob down without me.
Up for next week: Auchenai Crypts. I have no recollection of doing that before, but we’ll see.
You know what I like about playing ranged DPS? The fact that for the most part, I get to stand outside the area of effect. This was especially funny when half the party would get feared by the void shadows, and I’d end up auto-turning to track the thing with my soul flay while it was chasing you.
It made me really miss my Will of the Forsaken on my main. We had two priests; I wish I had thought to remind you both to use Fear Ward (one on me, one on healer). I didn’t think of it until this morning :smack:
My favorite part of running UP is that hall where the all the statues along the walls come to life. I tend to stand in the back healing and watch everyone get feared.
Thanks twhitt and shinto46 for the replies. I would like to change the name but definitely not enough to pay all that money to repurchase the guild bank tabs. It is just me and my alts so I can deal with it.
It would be nice if in the future they let us change the guild name. I’d even be willing to pay a reasonable fee for it.
Last night, I actually got put in with the same fail-Tank as I had the night before in the LFG dungeon finder… We were both replacements for a group that had just downed the 1st boss in UK. I whispered the leader and told them about our previous problems with the tank when he questioned her ability (due to low HP). We decided to go, and wiped twice in our first 2 encounters. At that point the group disbanded (they’d apparently wiped 3 times before we arrived). So that makes me feel better that it was tank-related.
Later got a different group and sailed thru UK with hardly a problem at all…
Icecrown questing question - I had a quest where I was able to see into the infragreen (no physicists on the quest naming staff at Blizzard then? Obviously some programmers due to the ‘Not a Bug’, ‘Retest Now’ quests but really Discworld had the right idea create a new colour) but when I got to the quest giver I refused the quest. No idea why but anyway does anyone know how I can pick it up now?
Is this the part where I get yelled at for only ever playing the graphical version of NetHack?
It’s impossible to switch without re-doing the quest where you choose your allegiance, which you’d definitely notice. There are NO dailies available to you from either faction without doing that quest, and once you’ve chosen a side, you only get dailies from that side, and have to do the quest again to switch to the other.
As has been mentioned, while it’s nice to pick up shiny new gear, it’s certainly not necessary every level. You can usually get much better (and cheaper!) gear just through quests, especially in Northrend. If a piece starts getting really outdated, you can buy something to replace it, but otherwise it’s not really worth it until you hit 80.
Just delete the folders I listed, then enable everything that’s left.
Everyone sees that red ring only on their own target. What someone does see is the nameplate color change to gray after you’ve “tapped” a target: which is to say, used some ability on it that made it aggro to you. That could be shooting it with your bow, hitting it, taunting it, etc. It doesn’t, however, count a “body pull”–getting aggro by just running close but not attacking. It also doesn’t count abilities like Mind Vision or Hunter’s Mark that don’t cause the mob to attack you.
You know, you *could *just look at your keybindings menu…
They actually changed this. Nameplates are now never shown for Critters, and you can tweak what kind of nameplates you display for all various categories of friendly and enemy targets (players, NPCs, pets, totems, etc.).
What I really miss is 'Zerker Rage when I’m on any toon but Sleu. Being able to break fear once every thirty seconds? Yes fucking please.
IIRC, it’s one of those things that they’ve been considering for a while but as of yet have no concrete plans for and/or promised ETA.
Added on preview:
Lips_Obsession: If you put a player on ignore, even cross-realm, you will never be matched with them via the random LFG. To ignore someone:
1.) Right-click their name in chat and select “Ignore.”
2.) Type /**ignore player **for someone on your realm or **/ignore player-realm **for someone from another server. Note that it’s a hyphen between the name and the realm, with no space on either side of the hyphen.
3.) I think you also may be able to ignore someone by right-clicking their portrait and selecting “Ignore,” but I’m not 100% on that.
ETA:
martu, IIRC if you turned in the quest that led you to the platform, you should be able to pick up any quests there again. Just fly back to the platform (it will look empty) and land. Be sure to land on the right one: look for the Horde banners or Alliance banners. After a second or two, the NPCs should phase in.
I can see why they don’t do this, though–and if they did, I would like to see some safeguards on it so the guild leader couldn’t just change it at will. I mean, imagine being part of a large successful raiding guild with a cool name, and having the GM get annoyed (or drunk) one night and rename it <Farting Monkeys of Doom> or something. At least now when you join a guild you know what you’re in for, name-wise.
If nothing else, I’d like to see it be fairly costly (maybe on a sliding scale based on the number of members) to change a guild name. So maybe a guild with only 10 members might cost 10g or so to change, but one with 300 members might be 1000g or more.
I was in a guild called <Sparklebunnies of Doom> on Malygos during vanilla. We were the second most progressed guild on the realm, and it was probably the most fun I’ve ever had playing the game. We also all had pet rabbits that we had out when we raided/took screenshots of our first kills. Here’s a screenshot of our guild first Nefarian kill from Blackwing Lair: http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a176/DrPhrink/Nefarian3.jpg
I know it’s totally tangential, but don’t knock the “Random Animal of Doom” names, please.
ETA: I’m the druid with the leafy shoulders in the center (Cenarion Spaulders, Tier 1!).
Yeah, I did do the lich quest when I was the Oracles and then arbitrarily picked the Oracle to kill not knowing (i.e. not paying attention) to the actual quest notes when I thought I had to kill both to get back to killing the lich.
To recap: I started with the frenzyheart, did a few quests, saw the injured oracle and took him to his camp, therefore getting switched over to the oracles. Did a few oracle quests including the lich quest, assumed that it was part of the chain to get the dailies eventually and then thinking I had to kill both minions, ended up killing the oracle (Jaloob?) first, then realized the frenzy (Ketzep?) became friendly again and then took out the lich. The frenzy rep got bumped back up to honored and then I discovered that I could do dailies with the frenzyheart now…completed 5 out of 8 thus far.
I did accidentally switched because I was in such a hurry to grind out quests that I didn’t read the quest notes. Totally my fault though.
I can’t really talk–I’m in a guild called <Sparkle Magic> on Proudmoore–we’re one of the top progressed guilds on our server too (I think we’re the third Horde guild, though Alliance dominates). So I totally understand the fun of the whole “silly guild name” thing.
Still, I think it might be an adjustment for somebody who joined <Uptight Focused Raiders> and logged in one morning to find himself a member of <Sparkly Squee Bunny Squad GO!!> or something. That’s all I’m sayin’.
Ah, that’s great to know about ignore function keeping you from getting grouped up with some “Need” clown from another realm…had one last week that the other 4 of us would have strangled through the computer.
I was in a guild called <Sparklebunnies of Doom>/QUOTE]
I’ve seen both <Fluffy Bunnies of Doom> and <Killer Rabbits>. One’s on Lightbringer, the other’s on Cairne; I can’t remember which is which.
My human 80 pally made large strides toward both Loremaster of Kalimdor and The Seeker title by clearing all the quests in the draenei islands, so now she’s fewer than 200 quests away from both achievements. I did notice a good number of quests that were unavailable to non-draenei, as expected. However, somebody here (or maybe on WowHead) a while back said a non-draenei could do the quest to destroy the Vector Coil, but not the followup quest to get the special tabard. They must have changed it, or that person was incorrect, because despite doing all the quests leading up to it, I was not offered the quest to actually destroy the Vector Coil. The questgiver simply said he would see that it was destroyed.
I also discovered that I can’t give buffs to players lower than level 10. I can heal them, but I can’t buff them.
While perusing the AH I spotted the Raging Behemoth’s Shoulderplates going for a mere 6000g, so I finally sprung for them after eyeballing them for some time and watching the price fluctuate between 8000g and 10000g+.
ETA: Oh yeah, I can’t remember if I already mentioned that I got to 50 pets and now have Stinker I’m also just 4 mounts away from 50!
Sure, I agree that if you were in a guild like <Ensidia> or <Paragon>, and ended up logging on one day to find out that you were a member of <Rainbow Ponies And Candy Canes> that it would be a very odd adjustment to make. Your comment about <Farting Monkeys of Doom> just brought back some old memories that I had to share.
My holy pally (lvl 26) needs +Int and +SP. Mail gear with those stats is practically non-existant before level 40, so in addition to my BoAs I’m wearing a mixture of leather and cloth.
If I’m in a group with a mage and a priest, for example, and a nice cloth belt drops that is an upgrade for me, is it wrong for me to Need it? I feel bad about it so I haven’t done it, but I wonder how the cloth-wearers would react if I did. I once rolled need on a leather item (there were no leather wearers in the group) and got a “WTF?” from another player.
I don’t want to create drama, but I feel like if I’m healing a group I have a right to roll on caster gear I can wear. On the other hand, my options in general are wider than a mage or lock.
