Thanks for that info - I was not aware that Epic Flying had a faction discount. I’m assuming Thrallmar has the Orgrimmar discount?

I wish I had realized all that before I had Keliraeda pay the full 5000g to the trainer on Krasus’ Landing in Dalaran. She was still only Revered with Org at the time, but a 15% discount would have been better than none :smack:
Yes, Thrallmar uses Org rep. Both of the Hellfire trainers used to use the BC faction reps (Thrallmar and Honor Hold), but they changed it a little while ago to the home cities.
(And it used to be that you could only learn flying in Shadowmoon, IIRC…I think they added the flying trainers in Hellfire when they changed the minimum level to learn flying to 60)
Ummm…Wow, just WoW. Who woulda thunk it?
If you wait awhile to get your epic flying, the trainers at Warsong Hold and whatever the equivalent Alliance location is use Warsong Offensive and the equivalent Alliance rep to determine discounts. The Horde one is on the roof of Warsong Hold. Not sure where the Alliance one is.
Annoyed that I can’t check my Warsong Offensive rep in the Armory–it only shows Horde Expedition.
Dalaran and Shadowmoon Valley have no discounts for anyone.
As you level, the penalties for rezzing at a Spirit Healer get more and more prohibitive. There’s no penalty at all for a level 1 character, but by fairly early on (level 10, I believe), rezzing at the healer instead of finding your corpse gets you:
*10 minutes of Resurrection Sickness (-75% to all stats and damage, not -25%)
*25% durability damage to all items, whether equipped or in your bags
That durability hit is the one that starts making it really expensive as your gear gets better and better. Every time you die, you lose 10% durability on everything you’re wearing (items in your bags aren’t affected, so sometimes it’s useful to get naked if you’re about to die). This extra durability hit comes on top of that.
25% durability is cheap to repair on your gear when you’re at a lower level, but it’s probably already getting expensive enough that you’d miss the money: I’d guess at least a few gold.
Ugh, I’ve discovered another downside (other than the feeble AH) of Cairne having such a low Horde population: finding a group for Threat From Above & Battle Before the Citadel (Argent Tournament dailies). When I do these on my human paladin on Lightbringer, particularly before noon, I can join a group almost immediately after I grab the quests, because I see one LFG after another (though it’s a bit tougher in the evening, when I suppose everybody is busy raiding). But I picked up those quests on my belf pally 3 days ago and in that time I didn’t see a single LFG!* In fact, today I was trotting around the Tournament grounds and didn’t even see another Horde player. And being an undergeared, brand new lvl 80, I sure wasn’t gonna try to solo Chillmaw
I commented on this situation in guild chat, and Nahren kindly offered to come help me do those dailies.
I don’t know if this was answered yet, probably was, but I will toss in my two cents anyway.
For leveling and soloing, Beastmastery is the preferred choice. Once you get to level 80, it depends on what you want to do (raiding I imagine), and how good your gear is - It becomes a choice between Marksman and Survival. Keep in mind that “top spec” can change at any time. For my soloing, I stayed Beasty, but I dual specced into Survival for more raid damage. Finally, the “physical size” of the pet doesn’t matter, it will level up with you and when it comes to abilities, every raptor is the same as every other raptor.
Aside to the rest of the folks: I now have nine toons with epic flight, and the tenth has the cash for it. Also, a few more toons got Knuckle Sandwich. Not bad for a casual goof off.
Would one of you fine people with a character on Cairne and handy WoW access please send me a private message here on the board? I’d like a quick favor. Thanks!
Just tried to order one of these, put in all my info and now the page is frozen and has been for 5 minutes and I can’t go back or log out. It just hangs there. Does it usually take a long time for this?
Oh, I think we’ll just slog through our levels. I understand about the rezz factor a little better now and will hunt for my corpse, even though it gets really frustrating when I keep bumping into mountains or down into valleys and can’t find my way out. (Sometimes I look as long as ten minutes before I give up and choose the “character stuck” option, and then I STILL have to be rezzed and still pay that penalty which winds up costing me more to repair at higher levels).
I’ll just be more careful and watch the gold supply.
Thanks

Last night the BDL alt group ran through Underbog and Mana Crypts last night, pretty efficiently. It looked like everyone in the group is at least 66 now, so next week we’ll head down to the Caverns of Time to help Thrall Escape from Durnholde Keep.
Also I had about 10 stacks of silk that my pally had collected and no longer needed (he’s on to Mageweave bandages). Since twhitt was starting out and needed bags I tossed together a bunch of silk packs – gave him 4 and put the rest in the vault. I know anyone with a higher level alt on the server will probably just by larger bags (or the mats for them) right away, but if anyone else new to Cairne comes along at least they’ll have something to start with.
My main, Wolkenlaufre is the size I want - big. But my auction-mule alt Wollkie is a little bitty feller all of a sudden.
How do I get him back to the size he was (like Wolkie’s) without screwing up the settings for my whole server?
Thanks

Quasi, do you mean you’re seeing him from further away so he looks smaller? If your mouse has a scroll wheel in the middle, try moving that to adjust the camera distance.
Otherwise, the only thing I can think of that might be making him smaller is something like a potion or Baby Spice, but either of those should wear off after a few minutes.
What Skammer said. There’s a button on the keyboard that will automatically pull your camera all the way out and at about a 45degree angle. I have no idea what that button is…I only know it exists because I accidentally press it about twice a year and have to scrollwheel the camera back to where it was.
It helped (at least for the Underbog run, which was the only part I was along for) that we were about 3 levels higher than the last time we ran it; there were two incidents where we probably would have wiped if they’d happened on our first run-through: first, when we were fighting the hunter with the captured/mind-controlled bear druid, we’d just knocked down the hunter when the Bog Overlord who is on a long-period patrol route in the area came charging in; my ret pally died but the group stayed alive; then my ret pally (again) stood a bit too close to the final boss and aggro’d him before the tank was 100% ready to go.
1.) If the group isn’t full, it’s perfectly acceptable to say in party chat, “PlayerX is also looking for a group–could you please invite them?” Or, if you prefer, you can whisper the LFG person back with the name of the group leader, and tell them to whisper that person instead.
2.) If the group is full, you can simply whisper back and say, “I’m sorry, I just got invited to another group, and it’s full.”
Nobody’s gonna get mad at you for either, unless they’re crazy, in which case you dodged a bullet by not grouping with them in the first place.
One of the really nice things about Northrend: in the higher-level zones (like Storm Peaks and Icecrown), your ghost-Wolkie will actually get a ghost-gryphon to ride! That makes finding your corpse a **LOT **easier. Even in the lower-level ones, though, it’s just about slowing down and taking your time, especially if you get frustrated. If you’re stuck somewhere, step back for a minute and take a deep breath. Look at your maps–both the minimap in the corner and the big zone-wide map (“M” on your keyboard). What looks like obstacles you have to get around? Where do there seem to be openings?
Remember, you’ll always have an arrow on the edge of your minimap pointing you to your corpse (until you get close, and then it will be a little grave on the minimap itself)… but the direction it’s pointing is “as the crow flies.” So it can help to pause for a minute before you even start, get your bearings, and see what obstacles might require a detour.
Did my 1st dungeon with the hunter yesterday. Got rage fire chasm. We had a healer who didn’t want to heal. Only if someone died or was nearly dead. He was too busy fighting in bear form. Tank eventually got p*ssed off with this and left. We still took down Targamen (sp?) the hungerer fairly easily. I sent my pet in to tank.
Can I expect a visit from the HSPCA?
There’s a long quest line in Northrend where you do some dirty work for the Druids for the Ethical and Humane Treatment of Animals.
Ever notice that DEHTA doesn’t seem to care too much about poor old Lunchbox or Whatsername…Kaw’s War Mammoth? You’d think they’d make us kill the human but leave the animal alone…
