Such is the way of things, if we’re to keep getting xpacs. Sooner or later you’ll hit the new level cap, and then you can experience the *current *endgame!
Hee. This is true.
Got my warlock to 11 tonight, and heading towards finishing out the Quests in Eversong Woods.
I still need to do the Voidwalker quest(s), and a few others before going into the Ghostlands.
Curse of Agony is my fav spell so far, its just cool watching the enemies drop when I’m just standing there whacking them with a knife, and the curse is just totally wripping them apart, in conjunction with the other DOTs.
I’ve been using a casting cycle of CoA, Corruption, Immolate, and then running up and using my knife (I hope to get a wand soon). Occassionally, in tougher fights, I have been using Shadow Bolt as well. And drain soul as needed, but I can’t afford to use up too many bag spots right now with soulstones, my bagspace is limited.
Sorry about that — one of the hazards of trimming multi-quotes, I guess :smack:
I think it’s the big difference in number of sellers, i.e. “hundreds” of sellers for Old World ores vs. “thousands” of sellers for Outland and NR ores.
I just got the biggest laugh I’ve ever gotten out of the game … I ate the Amberseeds at Amberpine Lodge in Grizzly Hills. Based on the exchange between Anderhol and Ben after completing the quest chain, I have to assume that the whole thing was a regular practical joke these woodsman play on new arrivals …
ETA: D’oh! And I just realized I didn’t multi-quote in that post. I’ll have to blame the apparent bug in the Safari 4 Beta I’m using - it doesn’t clear previous multi-quote selections after I post. If I’m replying to a different thread I get a warning that I have “… selected # posts that are not part of this thread. Quote these posts as well, or deselect these posts?”. But if I’m replying to the same thread that I replied to earlier, it reinserts everything I previously multi-quoted fro, that thread and gives me no option to deselect the unwanted quotes and so I have to trim them out manually, and clearly I didn’t do so correctly in that post.
I will pick up Herbalism when I get the chance, thanks.
Real noob question I am sure but now I am in a Guild there are a lot more messages in my chat window, often too many to keep track of especially when I am in SW and the trade chat appears for example. How do you get round this? Are there chat filters I can use?
Yes there is.
First go into Options->Interface->Social and make sure that the “Simple Chat” option is turned off.
Now you can right-click the General tab above your chat window and you should find filter settings at the bottom of the menu that opens. You will also find(along with some other commands) a “Create New Window” option that creates a new chat window allowing you to have separate chat windows for different channels. Personally I’ve kept the default window with all the channels in it and added one that only has the private channels, ie guild, whispers, party and raid chats.
Perfect thank you.
Update on the noob priest thing. Turns out, my real problem was that I’d missed the quests on the farms south of the Goldshire inn, so I was tackling quests a level or two ahead, which is a big deal when you’re not tenth level yet.
Also, the upgrade from ninth to tenth level priest is just ridiculous: mind blast instead of smite, doing twice the damage for the same mana cost; and shadow word pain doubled in damage. Plus I picked up about 5 INT and 5 STA worth of greens at the auction house, which helped the mana situation considerably.
Do. This. ASAP. Your blueberry is going to be your best friend until you get to the point where you can nuke mobs down quickly.
Don’t you just love it when you hit a skill-learning level and get something hugely useful?
My girlfriend leveled her Warlock solo until 42, where she started to complain about not being able to handle groups of enemies 4-5 levels lower than herself.
Turns out she’s been using nothing but the imp this whole time. :smack: It took some hard convincing and a guide on how to play Warlocks well to get her to get the Voidwalker, and she’s still a little reluctant about it.
Meanwhile, my Hunter finally got a Tenacity pet (that change allowing all Tenacity pets to get Thunderstomp is nice) after using a Cunning pet his entire career, and the change in survivability is utterly striking. I do 90% of the damage, so any lower damage from using Tenacity instead of Cunning isn’t noticeable, and the pet just…doesn’t…die, even with four enemies on him. I had a rousing melee in the pirate cove in Tanaris with the enemies all about my level; I killed about six or seven pirates, all joining the rumble at various points throughout, until finally my HP gave out on the eighth enemy. It was a glorious death. And my pet was still alive at the end.
Oh God yes! I’ve had a turtle as my soloing pet from level 20 or so and it’s just ridiculous the pounding he could take from multiple mobs (Shell Shield FTW). Now when you add in Thunderstomp he’s a solo grinding machine.
And I just love those epic battles where you take on two or three mobs and right as you’ve almost got them all down a two-man pat jumps in. You grind those down and then a respawn jumps you from behind. Use every trick, every cooldown, kill them all with just a few HP to spare. Or my personal favorite, die on the last one but as you’re laying dead on the ground the last tick from your DoT wipes them out.
I actually did get a gorilla despite Thunderstomp no longer being unique to them, but that was primarily because I was in Booty Bay when I made the decision to switch.
I’m looking forward to getting to Outland and picking up a Warp Stalker.
Sadly the exotic Tenacity pets a Beast Mastery Hunter can tame are lame. A Rhino and a Worm. Whoopdedoo. I want a Core Hound but I love T-stomp and insane survivability too much.
My 30-something Draenei Hunter tamed Deathclawafter she killed him the first time for the quest and lovingly christened him Zombear.
I don’t think I’ve bothered to switch out my pets since I picked him up.
You should just start raiding. Then you can whip out the best BM DPS pet, which is a Devilsaur.
ETA: Who the hell decided that a *worm *was going to be a Tenacity pet, anyway?
Yup, Big Blue is your friend. Even on my lvl 80 'lock I pretty much just use him when soloing, the imp when in a raid. (I don’t have felguard.)
May I get a link from our Hunter friends for a listing of tamable pets (assuming BM specced), and which ones are tanks, DPS, and what-not, post WOTLK?
Thanks!
Petopia is the best site for hunter pets. There’s another one that’s also good for strategy…can’t remember the name, unfortunately.
Thank you, sir. (Or ma’am.) The last time I was in Petopia, it hadn’t been updated yet.
Sir, thanks.
Although I get “ma’am” a lot… (I do phone work, and my speaking voice is a high tenor).
I assume blueberry is a nickname for the Voidwalker? Definitely a funny nickname.
Re: my priest, I gotta go on Wowwiki and look up Shadow Priest builds, I’ve heard everyone gets to repick talents in 3.1, so I will log on my priest and do that tonight I think.
