World of Warcraft General Discussion

All weekly quests reset on Tuesday morning, around something like 3 a.m. server time (I believe at the same time as raid lockouts).

Speaking of griefing: I just had my first encounter with pug trolls last night. I zoned in on my priest on an AN run in progress… right under Anub with Leeching Swarm and Pound up. With half the party standing outside the place. Apparently the huntard had been playing chicken with Anub while queuing for a new healer. He kept playing chicken a couple more times while the mage and I were rezzed/healed. Unamused priest is unamused.

And the tank, who was obviously friends with the huntard, was about to start hitting Anub. Naked. Until I called him on it, then he gave me some weaksauce story about how “no I’m not naked”… while stealthily putting his gear back on piece by piece. :dubious:

I didn’t drop, although I very badly wanted to, because the DK whispered me and told me they’d been trolling the whole run. Didn’t figure a votekick was worth it either since we were on Anub anyway. As it was, afterward I took the time to put them on ignore – my first cross-server ignores.

Fortunately the AN run after that bit of rage and hatred-honing was a very different one, with a lock who actually ss’d me, a war who didn’t try tanking naked, and so on, which did a lot to take the bad taste out of my mouth.

We accidentally had a double-pull right before the first boss. Spell flingers abounded, but I managed to keep everyone alive in that mess thanks to Shadowfiend and POH, finishing out with quite a bit of mana left. I got complimented by the lock who said that they’d never survived that double-pull before.

Bosstone, that all makes sense. It just seemed you were saying you didn’t have time to raid because you had to do all those dailies, but really you can easily raid (and gear up that way) without doing dailies or buying gear. There’s no right way; whatever you prefer.

I have been slowly building a fund for my alts. I haven’t bothered to learn even basic flying with my 68 pally tank yet (though I should), since he basically pops from instance to instance. But my bank alt has about 5k gold for my other alt (now 64) to learn epic flying as soon as he hits 70 – my goal is to have enough for cold-weather flying at the same time. But most of my money comes from dungeons and disenchanting, so it’s slow.

Although I did sell a Glacial Bag the other day for about 340g, so that was a nice bonus.

Whoa, Glacials have gone down. Last time I sold one, I think it went for a bit over 500g. (And back when I was buying them, they were in the 700g range.)

Yeah, they have gone way down since the cooldown on the materials was removed. So Moonshroud/Ebonweave are cheaper now, and so are the bags – although they did add a 7-day CD to making the bag itself.

Blacksmiths with Titanium keys are plain easier to find…just sayin’.

(Me! Me! Me!)

I have a rogue that I leveled up to 78 last year (so close!) and then just suddenly lost interest in. But at least she maxed out her lockpicking (I think…), so she comes in handy once in a while. BDLers, take note if you ever need something unlocked.

Lockpocking is level-capped, so she won’t be at 400 yet, which is what’s needed for titanium boxes iirc.

Wow. Just saw the most creative and entertaining piece of gold-selling spam EVER. A bunch of level 1 orc warlocks near the bank in Orgrimmar - they would all lie down in unison, in the shape of a bunch of letters, then jump up and lie down again nearby. The letters were the name of a gold-selling web site (which I’m not repeating for obvious reasons).

Yeah, they do that off and on for a while. It’s less entertaining when you realize most of those level 1s are from stolen accounts.

Guess it’s about time I showed up around here. Most people post in the thread then join BDL, well I’m going to do it the other way around! Been in BDL for over a year so it’s time Kah/Reins/whoever alt you know me as said hello.

I remember walking out of the AH in Org one day to see a tauren female fall to her death beside me. The gold sellers were spelling out the name of their site with the dead bodies, creative yet disturbing.

So in a fit of craziness I decided to make yet another DK, this time a female gnome, just to fool around with. While I’m out picking flowers and massacring the wildlife I decide to queue for a random, free money is good money. Queue pops and it’s Lower Blackrock, an instance I don’t know very well. We start off okay concidering the tank is “tanking” in fury spec, only he’s tanking one mob and the boomkin is tanking the rest. Around the troll boss the healer leaves as the tank is pulling and he dies, everyone else was too far back to be in combat, queue for another healer and the tank drops right as a new healer joins, awesome! Then I hear the last thing I want to hear “dk tank till we get one?”. Crap. I don’t want to tank and I’m not specced for it, but I do so anyway. Without DnD I’m running around blood boiling my little head off and I manage to keep aggro off of everyone until we get a paladin tank during the spider boss. Cue the Boomkin and Priest losing their minds and pulling every time the tank is drinking. We made it through okay but it was definatly a wild ride.

And it looks like I won’t be tanking for my ICC10 group tonight, healing on my druid or possibly my shaman. A little sad, but at least there’s a chance for gear on the other toons.

Oh right! See it’s been so long since I played her I forgot it worked like that.

Wrong server  In any case, one of my friends on the same server is a blacksmith who can open it for me.

Re: warlocks spelling out URLs -

This is briefly addressed in Nub Tales Episode 1: Celestial Steed (Tears of Noobs)

Episode 2: Shadowmourne is out now - awesomesauce!

Short the usual people the guild needed for hardmodes last night, so we decided to just move ahead on regular. I got to tank Putricide and Sindragosa–I was definitely glad I’d done that 10-man on Wednesday, since there’s nothing more nerve-wracking than having to tank an encounter for the first time on 25 with a bunch of people who know it already. We started running into problems on LK–a lot of people who were either new to the fight or had very minimal experience with it. I started out tanking (adds in ph1), but since the two of us who were tanking the most had almost no experience with the fight, and there were a couple of tanks in the raid who were used to doing it, we swapped out after a few attempts. The last two tries, we made it to the last phase, but then wiped to stupid fluke stuff, so they called it. We’ll hopefully finish up Monday.

The biggest bonus is that I finally picked up a token, so I bought my T10-264 legs! After downgrading my shoulders back to the T10-251 ones from the non-tier-264s I had, I was a couple hundred HP lighter (which was slightly sad, because I’d finally busted 47k unbuffed HP), but a four-piece set bonus more rockin’. And the bonus definitely makes up for the stat drop: Bloodrage no longer uses health (meaning I could swap out my Bloodrage glyph for the one that extends the timer on my Commanding Shout) and it now also give me a bubble equal to 20% of my max health. These days, fully raid buffed with SoW, that’s over 13k.

I *do *wish they’d be more aware of socketing. Technically, my T10-264 legs have slightly more raw Stam on them than the non-tier-264 ones I was wearing, but they also have one fewer socket. At 30 Stam per socket, that’s a noticeable hit.

That’s why I wasn’t expecting the price to go down too much. Guess the cloth CD changes more than overbalanced it, though.

I always wondered you who were on the SDMB! Hasati is who I play in BDL.

I’ve given this one a bit of thought, and I still think it’s entertaining and creative; a bit disturbing that they have that many throwaway accounts to, well, throw away, but they’d be using them to spam trade chat/send in-game mail spam/other annoying things anyway.

I’d say! Welcome to the SDMB.

Is this a regular ICC10 group you do with Reins? Who do you go with? I’ve been trying to find a group to run Kene with regularly (preferably on Fridays) but my luck has been sporadic.

Woot! Our guild finally got HM Putricide last night after many tries (we actually two-shotted him last night, but many previous raid nights were devoted to him). Took a few shots at HM Sindragosa, but the best we managed was hitting the 35% transition with only about 5 people alive, so we called it so people can go study strats. I don’t think anybody was expecting to down PP that fast, so we were not prepared.

Wow, going to miss AVR when it goes away. Sindragosa and PP are two fights that it’s very helpful on. Ah, well. It’ll be better for us to do it without it–dangerous to lean too much on crutches. But it is/was quite a sexy addon.

And this morning, after finally getting the money to buy the last of the Primordial Saronite I needed, my DK tank is now proud owner of Shadow’s Edge, and looking forward to starting his soul collection tonight! I ended up sticking two Str gems in it instead of 2 Stam gems, since sometimes threat is a bit of a problem for me (especially at the beginning of a fight before my RP ramps up). I lost 600 health, but even with that I’m still at just shy of 47K so I should be good. Hopefully I’ll be able to get a shot at the Shadowfrost Shards so I can eventually have my very own Shadowmourne. Very excited.

AWESOME.

No, sorry, that’s Black Temple.

I’m definitely glad I never got around to downloading it. I flipped out enough when I was temporarily forced to dump DXE for DBM–can’t imagine losing the functionality of something like AVR.

Most excellent!

So I’ve been slowly accumulating gear for my Holy Pally spec, but I haven’t done much with it yet; mainly just putting the pieces together and earning money to buy trinkets and gems. As of last night, though, all I needed was one trinket, a libram, and a few gems, so when Guns poked me last night and asked if I could heal a heroic, I said “Yeah, sure!” …:smack:

Talk about a trial by fire. I figured we would have some time before the RDF put a team together so that I could buy my libram and cut a couple gems real quick. Turns out she had a team all ready to go and was waiting on me. I had just enough time to pull my Holy gear out of the bank before we went.

Had it been anything other than the heavily-nerfed and half-vehicle Oculus, I would have caused a wipe. In a heroic. With an ICC-geared tank. How humiliating. We got past the first boss before I realized I was still in my freaking Ret spec, though I at least had my Holy gear on. My meta-gem wasn’t even activated, due to the lack of gems. I had no time to drink and when I switched specs, I realized I hadn’t set up my action bar; it was still half-heartedly set up for Prot from when I briefly played with that! I had to configure on the fly. It was all I could do to slap Sacred Shield on Guns, spam Holy Light, and slam mana potions and Divine Plea between fights to keep from bottoming out on mana. Amazingly, the only two deaths were both by the same Hunter who was overeager in his DPS.

…That was probably the most intense heroic experience I’ve had since…well, since my very first one.

Afterward, I finally sat down and took the time to properly configure my UI in Holy spec, as well as respec from 51/0/20 to 51/20/0, which should be a much stronger healing spec. The only things I need now are a second trinket and 3-4 more gems, and I should be pretty solid. (I did make sure to grab a Prismatic to activate the bloody metagem, though.)

Hey, welcome!

Yeah it’s a regular guild group I run with and that’s where Reins is right now, we run every Thursday but we don’t have a second day pinned down to continue. Tonight we’re going to down Rotface and Putricide, then put in some attempts on Blood Council. Came away with these pretties from Deathwhisper last night Boots of the Frozen Seed - Item - World of Warcraft I know they aren’t exactly resto boots, but they’re a lot better than what I was wearing Boots of Septic Wounds - Item - World of Warcraft

Looks like I may be tanking tonight, which means I’ll probably be kiting the ooze on Rotface a job I both loathe and enjoy at the same time. At least I’m getting better at dodging the slime coming from the pipes. Really dreading Putricide, took us an hour and a half to down him last week and looks like we may be teaching a couple of new people the fight tonight one of those being a tank. Then on to Blood Council where we actually did really good last time despite our warlock having no experience with that fight.

Had a doozy of a H UK run earlier on my DK. Everything’s going super until the tank disconnects outside Keleseths room, we boot him and since I’m on my DK I decide to just go tank and grab a DPS it’s usually faster that way and the Hunter was already whining about having to go to work shortly. So I switch and we grab a enhance shaman that’s geared to the teeth, and I pull the trash before Keleseth… as the shaman pops his wolves and runs straight into Keleseth. I sigh and wait for him to die while we down the trash but the healer keeps him up. As soon as the boss dies he’s off to the races, running ahead of me and pulling every mob he can. On the few pulls I actually beat him to he runs to the next mob and tanks them on his own, whatever, I don’t care anymore and if he wants to tank, let him. Once we reach Ingvar I watch him run up and start attacking the boss, I decide to just sit down and enjoy the show. The healer manages to keep the shaman alive until Invar uses Woe Strike and Dark Smashes the shaman, only to have the shaman revive himself and die a second before Invar goes down. I get my 2 frost and drop group.

I don’t understand DPS like that. I may not be the most familiar with DK tanking, but I wasn’t going slow by any means and here was this DPS just doing his own thing. Yeah he could survive the mobs with the pally healer spamming him, but just let me do my job, really is it that hard?
