World of Warcraft General Discussion

For my part, I can’t watch videos from work. And if I’ve got time to read the SDMB from home… I’m playing WoW instead.

It can take several days if they’ve got a lot of tickets (and they usually do) but they’ll get to it eventually. What will most likely happen is that the wand will either show up in your bag or your mailbox, and you’ll get a ticket response telling you that it did so.

The time I accidentally disenchanted my Fishing Hat, I think they put it in my mailbox about three days after I submitted a ticket.

So I’ve done a warrior tank (awesome in PvP, rage sucks.) and a paladin tank (lol-OP). Then I saw a druid tank alt of the top progression guild on my server and he was tearing it up. Makes me think I should try a druid, but I worry that they suffer from the rage issues of warriors. Can you just stack enough crit so that primal fury gives you infinite rage? Can DKs apply offensive pressure like a warrior, 'cause I still want something that’ll wreck stuff in a BG… but isn’t frustrating.

… an no one seems to be helping themselves to ANYTHING???

300 Gold, and no one NEEDS any of that???

This is BULLSHIT, Man. This is BULLSHIT!

The only REASON I created this guild is for new people to have a “springboard” to get into the game.

What, is it ME?

Do I need to be around 24/7?

Or do I need to be GONE 24/7???

I just wanted to help as I have been, but I just can’t go into DETAIL, cause who’s gonna believe me, if I try to explain to all of them?

No, it wasn’t the worst thing I could have done. Would you have thought it was a bit more egregious had I waited for 30 minutes while they found enough people to pull the raid together?

Quasi, seriously, calm down. Nobody is avoiding the bank to personally insult you.

And I took a hammer out yesterday. It was an upgrade.

My Guild had that same problem. They’d drop a bunch of stuff in the bank but nobody would end up using any of it for some reason.

Indeed. My guild is just me and my alts, and I’ve got 5 bank tabs worth of stuff that I put in there myself and still don’t get around to using it.

ETA: Oh yeah, my pally finally got another 60 Frost badges together and bought herself a boxing championship belt

Yeah, but I mean, damn. I had a LOT of help getting here, the majority of which came from HERE, and I just wish I could pass it on, so I try to let the people I meet in-game know how much help I have had here, and how I’d like to be there for them in their minor quests, but all of a sudden I get someone who wants me to run them through a dungeon, and I don’t know what I’m s’posed to say to 'em!

So I guess I’m pretty much worthless as a guild-master, 'cause people think I know more than I do, right?

Sure wish I could help some of 'em, though…

Q

I just noticed something…weird.

I thought there was a limit of 1 death knight per server per player. But I currently have TWO DKs on one server, one I started on that server and one I transferred (forgetting that I had the server-native one there). They’re both there. I can log into both of them. Is this a bug or did they change the limit? (They’re both Alliance)

  1. You’re not worthless for anything.
  2. You are not responsible for their perceptions of what a guildmaster is for.
  3. What they’re asking you for is power-leveling (i.e., they follow you into a dungeon where you kill everything yourself and they do nothing but collect XP, gold and gear). It’s not against the rules, it’s not illegal, and it’s not really considered cheating, but it is kind of lazy.

jayjay, please, okay?

Look at our guild.

I decided to make all the “members” above level “20” - veterans.

I thought that would give them all some incentive.

Thing is, I don’t know how the other factions work, Jay!

I’m just a Human Alliance Warrior who happens to have formed his own guild.

And Wolkie’s the only Warrior, and guess how STUPID Wolkie is?

Just as stupid as I am!

THAT’S what I’m tryin’ to tell y’all!:smack:

Q

Possibly the limit is only that you can’t start a new DK on a server where you already have one; getting 2 via transfer puts money in blizzard’s pocket so why should they complain? :stuck_out_tongue:

I suspect the thing is that the majority of the low level characters don’t belong to new players, they’re alts of people who already have one or more level 80’s. Those players know the game well enough that they don’t need any help with the small stuff, only the the stuff that is actually impossible to solo.

And, yay! A decent ICC pug for once, with me healing the gunship battle plus the deathbringer. It took us a few tries to get the Deathbringer down, but at least we were able to take advantage of the fact that you could run back onto the gunship and reset the battle. It’s weird how disconnected from the fight you get when healing, though; I pretty much just stood there clicking my healbot bars. And the 2 frosts from Deathbringer brought me to 95, and thus my first piece of T10 gear (the shadow-spec pants).

Mkay, so why join my “small-time” stuff then? I already told 'em it’s entry-level, and I already told 'em they could go whenever they wanted to, so why waste my/our time?

Wolkie and Silka just place ourselves there at the entry-level places just to help out, but we can’t tell who’s been here before and who hasn’t.

So what happens is, we tend to look stupid.

Me and Wolkie and Silka R E A L L Y just want to help new folks.

Quasi, some folks are going to use the guild bank for stuff they need and some folks won’t. Even in our SDMB guild on Cairne, we have to clean out the bank once in a while because stuff sits out there forever without getting used. And we have 4-5 tabs. Just making yourself available to help them is the best you can do; don’t take it personally if some people would rather figure it out themselves.

Tom - grats on the ICC run and new gear. What is your healing spec? Disc or Holy?

Tonight’s Wednesday night Burning Dog Legion alt dungeon run will be Tempest Keep: The Mechanar. Anyone with a toon in the 68-72 range is welcome to join us! We’ll aim to start around 8:45 server time.

Disc. I was theoretically single-target healing but it worked out that I was spamming shields/renews/flash heals wherever and using penance to make sure the tank stayed up. It’s pretty easy healing a 70k health tank.

Going to have to work late tonight but I should be there.

Well, the good news is, I finally got to come in right from the start of a raid, so I picked up a Heroic Marrowgar kill. (Had a few attempts on LDW, but we swapped to regular when lag issues were making the fight more trouble than it was worth.) But the bad news is I had to leave early, so I logged off before Saurfang, who I’m sure dropped a token I could use just to spite me. But the better news is that I had to log to go be in a party scene for my friends’ film. So instead of raiding all night, I came home at 11 p.m. covered in fake blood.

ETA: AND I am now over 70k HP, fully raid buffed, in ICC25. SoW bumped up to 20% yesterday.

The days of instant GM responses to in-game petitions are long-gone. IMO they’ve been massively understaffed for way too long. Expect to wait a few days for a response to anything–especially something that would need to be kicked over to a higher-level person who can do item restores.

What **Skammer **said. Like, literally word-for-word.

All you can do is **offer **your help. You can’t force people to take it–otherwise it becomes about what *you *want and not about what *they *need.

Do you have guild repairs turned on? That’s something that people might find easier to take advantage of. You can put a limit on the amount of money people can use per character per day, so that higher-level characters don’t suck all the money out of the bank. (Gbank repairs add an extra button next to your normal repair button: it works the same way, but it pulls the funds from your guild’s bank instead of from your own money.)

I hate that model. It makes me look fat. :frowning:

These days, run-throughs aren’t really neccessary. Back in the day, it could be hard to find a PUG for lower-level content, but with the RDF, someone shouldn’t have to sit in queue for too long before they get a group together.

Nope. It’s your guild–you do whatever you want with it. If people don’t like your leadership, they’re free to leave.

My highest healer is only in his 50s, but it continually surprises me what a different experience healing is from tanking or DPSing. It’s almost like a whole 'nother game, staring at health bars instead of at enemies.

Because they need a laid-back place to hang out? Some people just like the cameraderie of a guild without needing any substantial gain from it in the form of items or gold. As long as you have people in your guild, Quasi, you’re doing something right. So don’t sweat it if people aren’t using the resources you’re offering in the way you’d imagined–they’re still getting what they need, and that’s what’s important, right?
