Wow, I didn’t know that Clines had a follow up to Ex Heroes. I liked that book, although the ending kind of drifted if I’m being honest. I’ll have to check out Ex Patriots.
If you ignore all the extras who felt the need to put their names on the IMDb cast list, it looks pretty modest, plus it seems like our documentarian’s family is somehow involved. My guess is that you get his backstory for a bit, then a bunch of narrated flashback scenes.
I found it disappointing, I’m a Zombie fan but I disagree with M.B.s take on Zs.
Can you expand on this? Do you mean the Romero-style zombies is what you disagree with or something else?
Well I don’t go with slightly magic zombies, as in they don’t eat for fuel.
What makes Zs the most enjoyable horror subject for me is that the suspension of belief is less, alot less then say Vampires or WereWolves.
But beings that move, work and expend energy without needing an energy source belong to fairy tales and magic, not an almost believable future horror event.
MBs WWZ just didn’t ring true for me, the mindsets of the people he depicted in other countries either seemed like caricatures, or Americans with a different language.
Also the series of events didn’t seem realistic to me.
And it appears that the Zs only became a threat because large numbers of different people and organisations were unbelievably careless, or unbelievably stupid.
Its hard to identify with the victims when they’brought the disaster on themselves.
I really wanted to like the book but just couldn’t
