For those who follow the sport, who do you think is the worlds best male swimmer. I think it is a no brainer and that Michael Phelps has clearly overtaken Ian Thorpe as the number one swimmer in the world, and most likely will prove to be the best ever by the time the 2004 Athens olympics rolls around. What do you think?
Alexsander Popov is back at the age of 31 amd just beat both van den Hoogenband and Thorpe in the 100M freestyle. Who’s the best? I don’t know. But Phelps is up there.
Actually some of us do care, though not a whole lot. I am a masters swimmer and have been paying attention to the world’s. I’m not very excited about Popov, he’s really only a sprinter. Phelps does seem to be pretty quick, it’s also the first time I’ve heard of him. To me Phelps seems to be better all around, with Thorpe being the better free stylist.
Whoa, from Maryland, a swimmer, and never heard of Phelps? Anyway, yeah, pretty quick. Two new world records today, plus earlier in the week a new American record in 200 free as opening leg of the 800m relay and that’s not an event he ever swims in competition.
Who cares who’s faster, where are the Speedo pictures?
Worlds best male swimmer:
Sammy
Speedo pictures should be around soon. Also rumor is that he will more or less by NBC’s poster boy for the '04 Olympics.
Let’s see some medal tallies and records held before we leap to conclusions based upon opinion.
