World's Longest Concert: 16 Days and Counting

A pub in Stouffville, Ontario has broken the Guinness record for the world’s longest concert:

They hit the mark at about 7:00 AM local time Sunday, April 2. But they’re going to continue, to extend the record time. Live stream is here (scroll to the bottom), for as long as they continue, which looks like it will be Tuesday night:

I’ve been following this for the last few weeks, as I used to live in Stouffville, and the Earl of Whitchurch was my usual hangout. I knew a few of the performers in the concert, and heard them play back in the day there. It would have been a treat to have heard them again in this recent effort, but I couldn’t make it. At any rate, way to go to all involved!

Is this a single group, or a whole bunch of different performers who are taking turns? Because if the latter, I would argue that it’s not a concert, it’s a festival of concerts.

It’s a bunch of different performers, so I suppose it is more of a festival concert. There were some pretty stringent guidelines from Guinness however, so it they are happy with the festival format, it should still count.

One of my old friends there, who is married to one of the performers, informed me about those guidelines, which were distributed to performers:

Well, I’m guessing it falls outside the common definition of a “concert” but back in 2013 I attended the most recent changing of the note of John Cage’s As Slow As Possible in Halberstadt, Germany.
