I’m almost as quick on the trigger muting those ads as the ones for Liberty x 3 Insurance.
Annoying ads that keep the sponsor’s name in mind are often a success. Obnoxious ones that make you swear off products you might actually need are another story.
Yes, and you know, my Dad was very cool. I have no objection to being like him. Not to mention, many of the things the asshole is telling people not to do are harmless.
Dominos “we’ll pay you to pick up your own damned pizza” is strange, both in concept and execution. They tell us / show us how very difficult it can be to get a pizza from their store to your door and therefore will “pay” the customer to carry out their order. Is there ever a reason to eat Dominos other than the convenience of having it delivered?
There’s one with white mom bringing pizza home. Black dad is on the sofa with the kids. Watch him when they open the box. It’s apparent they didn’t tell him what his reaction was supposed to be. He just has a WTF look on his face.
What is the reference to in this Gaines (?) commercial? I think it’s maybe from an old dancing movie. Older Asian guy is in a laundromat, and for some reason he sits in a chair and slouches way down with one leg sticking out. A big black guy stands on a chair behind him and dumps a load of laundry on him. I think it’s meant to be humorous somehow.
A movie from 1983. I’m going to guess that inserting a reference to something they loved in their youth helps alleviate the soul crushing nature of their work.
Ever met a REALTOR® at a party and they start correcting everyone’s pronunciation of the word?
And I mean EVERY one’s. Apparently there’s some subtle nuance that no one can do correctly. And that becomes an emotional trigger for the REALTOR® and proves that the REALTOR® isn’t being properly respected and we’re all going to go off selling and buying houses willy-nilly without a PROFESSIONAL® to guide us to the One Right House For Us.
When Subway started running ads last year featuring a bunch of famous sports celebrities but then gave both Tom Brady and Megan Rapinoe their own standalone ads too.
Taking two of the most hated figures in current sports and making them the faces of your company wasn’t exactly a smart move.
