Worst/Most Ridiculous Movie Death Scene

Do you think Honky Tonk Man is better or worse in that regard?

In Love Story, the closer to death Ali McGraw gets, the more beautiful she is (and MAD magazine did a great parody with that point in it).

A second to Ali McGraw’s death being poorly done in “Love Story”.

But I also have to add that I think Boromir’s death scene in the FOTR film was wonderfully done, very very moving.

Gimli was proud to have killed two, while Legolas was up to twenty at one point (I think they squeezed that line in the movie, then milked it to death). I’m not saying that the book characters were wimps, I’m saying they were unlikely to charge into crowds of angry Uruk-Hai with sword swinging.

Boromir kills one Orc after he takes an arrow, and that’s only becuase the dumb orc got too close hoping for hobbits prisoners.

I loved that scene. It was a welcome antidote to the stereotypical “pep talk” scene.

From your previous posts its obvious you are familiar with the books. You do know then that this exchange and the ensuing body count contest between the two characters is taken almost word for word from the books?

I agree though that even though we are allowing for a fantasy world setting there is a difference between killing that many foes sequentially over the course of a several hour battle vs. charging into a crowd of them all standing in a group. It did stretch credibility at least for me, a big fan of the books and movies.
