Must be 1 July 2009.
I had to think about it for a moment, but I thought it was at least mildly funny.
I dunno, I looked through the available archive. The one you linked seems to be the wittiest one yet.
I thought it was kind of funny once I got it. Not ROTFLMFA, but better than a Family Circus or a Blondie.
Would someone care to explain it?
I’m guessing June 12th was the changeover from analog to digital television signals. (I don’t watch TV any more, so I didn’t pay attention.) Standard TV antennas (colloquially known as “rabbit ears”) no longer function.
phooey
Rabbit ears, that is, the term for the old style of TV antenna. They won’t work any more since the digital switchover.
I’m judging worse on how long it takes me to get the joke. Five minutes or so today.
This just in:
How can they talk to each other if their ears don’t work?
Thanks. Without a TV, you tend to miss these things.
Oh, you aren’t missing anything, trust me. The joke is not funny even if you get it.
Ditto.
Maybe it would be funnier if the caption had been printed in all caps.
Pardon?
So many comics beat you over the head with an obvious puch-line. I kinda like that this one is almost too subtle.

Umm, I don’t think that has anything to do with digital TV. Just that instead of a “we are number one”, this loser accepts number two.
It’s the July 1. comic, not the July 2.
I also was linked to the July 2 strip. I was a little shocked to see people saying they had to think about it to get the joke.
Here’s a link to the comic the OP was talking about, in case anybody was confused/too lazy to click on the right day.
Heh. For a while there I thought this thread was full of dumbasses
