Or just turn the coffeepot off once it’s done brewing, and warm it back up in the microwave as needed.
I’ve got the same one. Works great, though it is getting harder and harder to find beans. I don’t usually use the timer, but often use pause and pour. And you can adjust the turn off time anywhere from 15 minutes to 2 hours.
We don’t have a thermal pot since nuking it works for us. We usually turn it off right after it finishes brewing.
But I’m not a coffee snob, especially since I’m stuck with mediocre but free coffee at work.
If you are there are lots of things you can do. I knew someone who roasted their own beans. Took forever.
And their house burned down.
I put French Press ahead of the filter cone for economical, because you don’t need to keep buying filters for the French Press. (Though the filter cone will get more snob points, if you can burble on about wetting phase, bloom cycle, exact temperature profiles, experimenting with different grind sizes, blah, blah, blah. If you just use it to make coffee-- like some kind of ignorant backwards peasant – then no snob points at all.)
Do you have a Trader Joe’s near you? They have a wide variety of beans you can buy there.
I also rarely use the timer. After the alarm goes off, I stagger into the kitchen, punch the Start button, then stagger into the bathroom. By the time I’ve spent some time on the john, washed my face, brushed my teeth, shaved, and stumbled back into the kitchen, coffee is ready.
Glad to hear it! I was starting to think I was some sort of weirdo in doing this. Seemed obvious, though.
