If they’re law abiding citizens, why would I care? Frankly, I’d rather they be there with a gun, should a criminal show up, than not.
Exactly. The whole idea is ridiculous. A crazy isn’t going to let a sign stop them.
Guns don’t usually bother me. I am not a fan of open carry and wouldn’t want to hang around where people do so. Concealed carry is fine in most cases.
I would not hang around in a bar that specifically allows guns open or concealed. People actively drinking alcohol shouldn’t have guns IMO.
Other. I don’t even know where people can and can’t open carry around here. It’s just not on my radar. I assume everywhere I go in the state of Tennessee and much of the surrounding country that most people are carrying, and I try not to piss anyone off.
I don’t really understand this. What if they’re the criminal? What if they’re carrying but don’t know how to aim properly and someone gets hurt who shouldn’t get hurt? What if their gun accidentally discharges in a crowd? What if some kid gets it? I know most of these are ridiculous but they’ve all still happened. People openly carrying firearms are not instantly potential heroes.
Not that I care one way or another. Guns have been around me my whole life.
Why, yes. Yes, it does.
I carry a handgun everywhere I go. Most of the time open carry.
I try to stay away from places that forbid me from carrying a weapon (a.k.a. criminal protection zones).
I have never allowed weapons policies, one way or the other, to determine my travel plans.
I went other. I am one of those who carry but I do support places/businesses that don’t allow it. In other words, I don’t let it effect my plans either.
I have a concealed carry permit. I almost never carry a gun.
Here’s why; If I walked into a place of business and they had a row of empty tin cans lined up in front of a safe backstop, I may not be able to resist drawing my weapon and ventilating all the cans, until my ammo ran out.
I’m crazy like that.
But of course we only have to worry about criminals with guns, right?
It should be pointed out that everything in Minnesota has alcohol.
I always open-carry alcohol. If I wander into a place that doesn’t permit it, i put the bottle into my pocket.
Same here. I’m pretty sure I’d also avoid places where more than 1-2 people have guns, not including law enforcement or military members. I’ve been to places where 1 plain-clothed person has had a gun visible. It’s always a bit awkward because people notice and start glancing at the gun. I couldn’t imagine how it would be if I was surrounded by gun-wielders who I would assume have a good reason to carry one.
Not Sundays.
Maybe this.
I assume that most places don’t actually forbid guns, and I certainly don’t check to make sure they are banned before going somewhere. But if I went somewhere that seemed to be attracting an armed crowd, I’d probably leave. Every so often, people lose their tempers or otherwise do weird irrational stuff, and I’d prefer that the people doing that not be armed.
This. I rarely encounter this in Texas, but it’s PITA when I do. I ran into this sign at a local restaurant the other day, and first thought it was an invalid 30.06* (forbidding carry), but got a chuckle when I actually read it.
*In Texas, any sign forbidding weapons has to follow strict guidelines or it is invalid. If the property owner doesn’t follow the guidelines exactly (including wording, letter height, contrast, etc.), then it is legal for us to ignore it and keep our weapons. By some odd coincidence, the statute number is “thirty-ought-six” (popular deer rifle ammo).
I visited Chicagoland recently, and was surprised to see signs all over the place forbidding guns.
Well, Sundays have alcohol if you are Catholic and attend mass.
I am very happy living in a country where carrying guns is not a part of the culture.
