Dark gray. I don’t know the “official” color name, but it’s whatever gray comes on the 40th Anniversary edition*. It looks awesome.
*My Mazda RX-8 was also a 40th Anniversary edition…super weird coincidence…
I plan to! LOL!
Hmm, good to keep in mind whenever it it’s track time.
Don’t forget the noise. Lots of road noise. Not so much that I had to raise my voice during the test drive, but enough that I noticed it right away. I love the damn thing anyway.
On a money-related note, my car insurance hardly went up at all: just $40 (for a 6-month premium). I must have asked the insurance lady “Really??” two or three times! On the whole, though, yes, this will be a much more expensive car to own than the Honda: lower MPG with a premium fuel requirement, more frequent servicing (especially come track season), way more expensive tires, and even though my new car payment is lower I’ve added 2.5 years of payments that I wouldn’t have had otherwise.
All totally worth it!
Yeah, it looked good in the online picture but even better in person; slightly darker, but in a cool way. The interior is black, with red trim. It still looks/feels like I car I shouldn’t be able to own.
The car nut boyfriend said as long as you don’t drive it like an idiot, you should be fine. Apparently it has the unfortunate distinction of killing a large number of people who drive it like idiots.
But really, how much can you open it up in NoVa? So there shouldn’t be any problems.
Good for you Misnomer. Nissan has always been a good vehicle for me. I’ve had two Pathfinders and a 240sx coupe. It was really fun to drive. My 2004 Pathfinder is pushing 200,000 miles and… I can’t think of any major problems.
My current fun is a new (to me) plow truck. Yes plow truck. 2004 Ram short bed regular cab. Hemi. Black with new Mud Terrains and a brand new Western plow. I’m waiting for the winch to put on the back. It’s a pretty thing it is. And is gonna be a hellofa plow truck. Just got the tire chains last week.
FWIW, here’s a picture of me with the Z taken the day after I got her.
I’ve been doing a lot of research online, and apparently I should definitely add an oil cooler before taking it to the track. I also read this in a Car and Driver article: “If you intend to track a Z, don’t use the base pads, upgrade the brake fluid, and be sure to install brake-cooling ducts.” (From a 2010 story about how their NISMO Z went into a retaining wall at VIR.)
Now I’m kind of extra glad that I bought the car in November, so I have a few months to save up and get these mods done before track season.
Also tuner stickers in the windows. Everybody knows cars go much faster when you add tuner stickers in the windows. *
*(Added smiley so my post doesn’t sound as assy as it reads.)
