Well, I’m not sure what you mean by “feel the presence of the dog in all rooms” – sounds spooky! – but I’ll concede the dog smell in a lot of cases. In your mom’s defense and the defense of other dog owners, when you live with the dog, you don’t smell the dog. I’m pretty paranoid about it for my own house, actually. Although IME it’s more of an issue with cats than dogs. I am always really impressed by the housekeeping of people who have an cat but you don’t know it until yousee the cat. A lot of houses just smell like “cat” to me, and I don’t like the smell of cat, so I can hardly quarrel with you for not liking the smell of dog.
No, Spooky was the cat from our neighbours across the street.
As a mildly unrelated comment, a friend gave us a cake from a place she frequents. We loved it and decided to buy a cake for Sapita’s bday from them. When we went there, the stench of dog urine was overpowering. Needless to say, we will be buying our cake elsewhere.
