Would this work to make bark? Need answers fast!

This thread about what to do with left over candy cane got me to thinking about my Christmas left overs and i didn’t wanna highjack it into a discussion of bark making.

A gift bag from some office contained Ibarra chocolate. It’s not eating chocolate and not really baking chocolate. It’s for making Mexican hot chocolate. Also left over from Christmas baking is a can of sweetened condensed milk and a whole mess of candy canes.

What if I melt the chocolate, add the condensed milk and then sprinkle with crushed canes? Will the Mexican chocolate not work this way? Is it not a good idea to mix it with the condensed milk? What’s the ratio of chocolate to milk? Should the candy cane be mixed in or sprinkled on or mixed in?

What do you think, Doper cooks?

Google “Chowhound - how to cook with Mexican Ibarra chocolate”, there is a lot of information there!

Ibarra would make terrible bark. Peppermint and cinnamon don’t mix and it would taste like medicine.

I’ve had mint tea with a cinnamon stick in it, and it tasted fine, so I think it’s certainly worth a shot. And they’re considered flavors that pair well,at least for some. Certainly, in Middle Eastern cooking you will often see cinnamon along with mint in savory recipes, at least. It might be too much in this application (I don’t necessarily think so), but I wouldn’t dismiss it out of hand.

But how would you get the bark to stick to the trees?

Woof. Duh.
